Lesson Plan in Science V

I. Objectives
Through a video clip, 80% of the pupils will be able to:
A. Identify the components of an electric circuit;
B. Share the safety practice in handling electric-propelled materials;
C. Create an electric circuit model; and
D. Label the model or parts of electric circuit.
II. Subject Matter
Parts of Electric Circuit
A. Science Concepts: 1. Conductor is a material that allows electricity to pass.
2. Electric circuit is a path where moving electrons travel.
3. Complete circuit is a path where electricity flows from the
source and back.
B. Science Processes: Identifying, describing, and creating
C. Instructional Materials: 1. K-12 Science Grade 5 by Ma. Janine G. Hibañez,
pp. 204-205
2. Audiovisual Presentation (video clip)

3. Charts and Picture
III. Procedure
A. Review
The teacher will ask questions about the past lesson regarding light,
sound, heat, and electricity.
B. Lesson Proper
1. Activity
The teacher will show a video clip regarding electric circuit and ask the
following: 1. What can you say about it?
2. What components or parts or materials did you see in the
video?
3. How does electricity flow?
2. Analysis
The teacher will allow the pupils to view discussions of concepts
about the parts of electric current.
The class will have discussions of terms.
3. Abstraction
The teacher will ask the following questions:
1. What are the parts or components of electric circuit?
2. How do we able to let the light turn on?
3. How do we handle electric-propelled materials without putting ourselves in
danger?
4. Application
Group Activity
The class will be divided into groups. Through the use of the materials
agreed to bring today (battery, copper wire, electric socket, electric bulb, model
holder, electric tape), the groups will make their own model of an electric circuit
in 10 minutes time.

IV. Assessment
A. Directions: Read each item carefully. Choose the letter of the correct
answer.
1. In a simple circuit with long (coiled) wire, 1.5 V and a bulb, why does
the bulb gets dimmer?
A. Because the power supply is not enough to light the bulb
brighter.
B. Because the load is too many.
C. Because the wire is too long.
D. Because the wire is too short.
2. Imagine a simple circuit with one 1.5V battery and one bulb. When the 1.5V battery
is replaced with a 3V battery ...
A. The bulb gets brighter. C. The bulb stays at the same level of brightness.
B. The bulb gets dimmer. D. Nothing has changed.
3. Imagine a circuit with a 1.5V battery and one bulb and similar circuit with a 3V
battery and two bulbs. Which has the brighter glow?
A. The circuit with 1.5 V battery and one bulb.
B. The circuit with 3V battery and two bulbs.
C. The bulbs in both circuits are of similar brightness levels.
D. The bulbs in both circuits won’t lit.
4. Why might a bulb busted when 3 pieces 3V batteries are both
connected across in a simple series circuit?
A. There is not enough electricity flowing in the circuit.
B. Too much electricity flows through the bulb’s filament and the
bulb blows.
C. The batteries are not connected properly.
D. The batteries are used up or uncharged.
5. What is the effect of changing the wire in a circuit from a straight short wire to a
longer (coiled) thick wire?
A. The bulbs become dimmer. C. The bulbs stays at the same level of brightness.
B. The bulbs become brighter. D. Nothing has changed.
B. Label the parts or components of electric circuit.
C. Matching Type. Match column A with column B. Write the letter of the correct
answer on the space provided before each number.
Column A Column B
_________1. Dry cell a. a path taken by an electric current
_________2. Conductor b. a path where electricity flows from source and back
_________3. Light bulb c. the copper wire where current flows
_________4. Complete circuit d. contains materials that allow chemical reactions
_________5. Electric circuit e. the device that uses current

V. Assignment
Draw the symbols of the following circuit components.
1. Cell/Battery
2. Bulb
3. Wire
4. Switch
