After selecting a year level and class, click Add Unit to get started.

Creating a Unit
Click Add Unit to get started. Under the Purpose & Inquiry > Summary tab, enter
the unit title, start date, duration and subject focus. When complete, click Save and
Next at the bottom of the page to move to the next part of the unit planner.

 Scope & Sequence
Select expectations, understandings and outcomes for each subject of focus from
built-in, customizable Scope & Sequence (e.g. Common Core, AERO, etc.). Contact
support@managebac.com if you need assistance building in your Scope &
Sequence.

Inquiry
Select the Transdisciplinary Theme, bold any specific focus points, and write the
Central Idea. For reference we include guidance from Making PYP Happen.

 Summative Assessment
Add summative and formative assessment tasks for students. Describe how
students will be assessed within the Unit of Inquiry. Tasks are visible to students
and parents.

Concepts & Questions

Indicate the key concepts and explain how they will be incorporated within the
subjects and related concepts. All key concepts, definitions and rationales are built-
in from Making PYP Happen for easy reference. Below, you can add Lines of Inquiry
together with your Teacher Questions.

Learning Experiences
Describe the best ways of learning and how the unit will incorporate various aspects
of the Learner Profile, Attitudes, and Transdisciplinary Skills. Select from built-in
checkboxes.

Tip: When selecting a Learner Profile attribute, Attitude, or Transdisciplinary Skill,

hover over the icon see the definition.

 Resources
Add a journal entry, photos, videos, or files by clicking Add Resource. YouTube videos will
appear in an embedded video player.

Reflections & Evaluations

Evaluate the unit’s success in addressing its stated purpose, the elements of PYP and
the level of student-initiated inquiry. This section of the unit planner refreshes each
academic year. You can access reflections from previous years via the Academic Year
drop-down menu.

Export to PDF
Congratulations, you’ve finished writing
your unit! When done, click Back to
Unit and then Generate PDF Planner.
Your unit will export into the officially
licensed IB PYP planner.

 Programme of Inquiry
Once units are all built, you will have a complete Programme of Inquiry that is
accessible to all teachers, students, and parents. Stand-alone units are accessible
via the View drop-down menu.

Curriculum Analytics
Under Analytics, view the balance and coverage of skills and concepts across your entire
curriculum. Select an element from the drop-down menu. Filter by subjects and year
levels on the right panel. In the below example, addressed Key Concepts are shown
across the Primary curriculum for Language.
