“We rise by lifting others”, said Robert Ingersoll.

This is definitely true in today’s world where everyone

focuses on earning money and improving their own lifestyle, whereas nobody actually cares/thinks
about how to make the society better. I am no different from everyone else, however I do have an
unfulfilled dream. I want to contribute to the society, I want to make a change in the drug industry.

Since my childhood I wanted to become a doctor. To move forward with this dream: I chose to do my
bachelors in Biology from a highly recognized Institution-Rutgers University. While I was studying I even
worked part-time in a doctor’s office to get a feel of the work. After my graduation I wanted to take
some time off before applying for medical school. During this time, I took a full –time job in a
pharmaceutical company which made medical devices in New Jersey. I worked there as a Manufacturing
Associate under the direct supervision of the Senior Scientist. During my 1.5 year in this company where
I learnt a great deal about manufacturing procedures I also got the opportunity to observe the kind of
work Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Regulatory departments did. My interest in these
departments and their responsibilities led me to participate and interact more with them and I started
volunteering to help them on needs basis. I also participated in company internal, customer and FDA
audits, started performing investigations including CAPA’s, deviations and non-conformance reports.

While working for this pharmaceutical company I realized that I can fulfil my dream of helping others by
working as a Q.A, Q.C or R.A officer. Every company that manufactures drugs, medical devices or
medical supplies needs production/Q.C department for product manufacturing and testing and needs
R.A department which helps them correct documentation and licensing in place to manufacture and
advertise products as per the legislation. Q.C. and R.A. personnel play an important role in deciding if a
product will benefit the public or not, and without the drugs in the pharmacies and drug stores; even
doctors cannot operate. This is where I feel the importance of Q.C and R.A work makes a difference for
the betterment of public health.

Although, I have a total of 2 years of experience working in a Cgmp and aseptic environments of
pharma/biopharma companies I felt the need for more knowledge to move forward in this direction.
This is when I deiced to apply for Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs and Quality Operations (RAQC)
program at Seneca. After reading the program description, outcomes and courses I felt this was tailor
made program for me. In just 2 semesters, it trains me with the exact industrial skills I will be needing in
a work place environment.

I have great hopes from this program, I think I will excel in it. By accepting me in this program Seneca
will help me accomplish my dream.
