ABSTRACT

E-learning is hot. And for good reason. If done right, it can produce great results by
decreasing costs and improving performance. Also, unlike a onetime classroom session, the
e-Learning course is available for others. This includes the static e-Learning course as well
as any ongoing conversations in networked communities. I think this is common as more
people are joining the world of e-Learning. Understanding e-Learning’s value helps you
make the best decisions about when and why to use it. Today's learners want relevant,
mobile, self-paced, and personalized content. This need is fulfilled with the online mode of
learning; here, students can learn at their own comfort and requirement. Let's have an
analytical look at the advantages of online learning. The online method of learning is best
suited for everyone. This digital revolution has led to remarkable changes in how the content
is accessed, consumed, discussed, and shared. Online educational courses can be taken up by
office goers and housewives too, at the time that suits them. Depending on their availability
and comfort, many people choose to learn at weekends or evenings.

Unlike classroom teaching, with online learning you can access the content an
unlimited number of times. This is especially required at the time of revision when preparing
for an exam. In traditional form of learning, if you cannot attend the lecture, then you have to
prepare for that topic on your own; in eLearning, you can attend the lectures whenever you
want with easy. A prime benefit of learning online is that it makes sure that you are in
synchronization with modern learners. This enables the learner to access updated content
whenever they want it. E-Learning is a way to provide quick delivery of lessons. As
compared to traditional classroom teaching method, this mode has relatively quick delivery.
There are some of the reasons why the learning time is reduced by eLearning. Lessons starts
quickly and also wrapped up in a single learning session. Learners can define their own speed
of learning instead of following the speed of the whole group. Saves time as a student does
not need to travel to the training venue. Students can choose to study specific and relevant
areas of the learning material without focusing on each and every area. For example, they can
skip certain areas they do not want to learn. Whether it is for formal education or
entertainment, eLearning is very quick way of learning.

This cost effectiveness also helps in enhancing the profitability of an organization.

Also, when you are studying at your own place, you are relieved from paying for travel
expenses (e.g. accommodation) when training happens in another city/state and/or external
learning material. E-Learning has a positive influence on an organization’s profitability. It
makes it easy to grasp the content and digest it:

CHAPTER 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING

E-Learning is an abbreviation of the term electronic learning. Electronic learning in its

literal meaning stands for the type of learning carried out, facilitated or supported by some or

the other electronic gadgets, media or resources. Judging in this sense, the learning facilitated

by the use of an electronic media or means like microphones and listening devices or audio and

visual tapes can be termed as e-learning.

Web-based learning is used nowadays as another option to face to face education. As a

matter of fact, its use increase in a direct proportion with the increase of the number of the

students. E-learning has been introduced as a tool in the learning process in the majority of the

international universities worldwide. The term “E-learning” is defined as “any learning what

involves using internet or intranet”. A year later the definition become more generalized by

indicating “anything delivered, enabled, or mediated by electronic technology for explicit

purpose of learning”. E-learning suggest that the “e” should refer to everything, engaging,

everyone, easy. (Sheene 2014), Although the e-learning term and tools do exist for over a

decade, the educational research field has not given enough attention to the study of student

motivation under the effect of e-learning. With diminishing finances, it is rarely possible for a

library or information center to have enough resources to fulfill the needs of a students (Ramos

& Mohd Ali, 2005.)

1.
Corporate learning and the corporate learning organization have ascended to a position

of strategic prominence in the context of managing and growing enterprise that has been

related today (Mcrea, Grey & Bacon, 2000) E-learning (also called electronic learning) is

any type of learning that takes place through or with a computer and is primarily facilitated

through the Internet but can also be accomplished with CD-ROMs and DVDs, streaming

audio or video and other media. The purpose of e-learning is to allow people to learn for

personal accomplishment or to earn a professional degree, without physically attending a

traditional university or academic setting. Applied for all levels of schooling from grade

school to graduate degrees, e-learning is versatile enough to accommodate all learning styles.

(Brooks, 2019) Education are one of the major determinants of sustainable life-long earnings,

Education has a purposes to our life to know and discover more systematic instruction and

information. E-learning and common educational proses can collaborate as the best way to

cope with the challenges: volume of information resource; nature and quality information;

user needs and expectations; information and communication technology competencies and

etch. (CARLI 2015)

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

The following are the related literatures that are reviewed by researchers and the

information came from different references such as articles, journals, magazines, research,

books, etc. that may be used to support the data in this study.

According to E-Learning NC that in E-learning is easy to understand. Online learning,

internet learning and many other are other terms that describe learning online. (Urdan and

Weggen, 2000) technology-based learning is also similar to e-learning. They shared that e-

Learning covers a wide set of application and process also computer-based learning, web based,

virtual classroom and digital collaboration. They further customized their definition of the

delivery of content via electronic media, internets, extranets, interactive TV, satellite broadcast,

and CD-ROM.

E-Learning is the use of knowledge distributed and facilitated by electronic. This

learning currently depends on network and computers, but will likely evolve into variety of

channels like wireless, satellite and technologies (NCSA e-Learning group). Through video

presentation it describes the distance of learning as a broadcast to distant location. (Gotschall,

2000). As mention above by (Hall & Snider, 2000) characterized distance learning with three

criteria; these are geographical distance separates communication between the trainer and

participant; communication is two way and interactive; and form of technology that used to

facilitate the learning process.

5.
The effectiveness of e-learning has been demonstrated primarily by studies of higher

education, government, corporate, and military environments. However, these studies have

limitations, especially because of the variability in their scientific design. Often they have failed

to define the content quality, technological characteristics, and type of specific e-learning

intervention being analyzed. In addition, most have included several different instructional and

delivery methodologies, which complicates the analysis. Most of these studies compared e-

learning with traditional instructor-led approaches.

Yet three aspects of e-learning have been consistently explored: product utility, cost-

effectiveness, and learner satisfaction. Utility refers to the usefulness of the method of e-

learning. Several studies outside of health care have revealed that most often e-learning is at

least as good as, if not better than, traditional instructor-led methods such as lectures in

contributing to demonstrated learning. Gibbons and Fairweather cite several studies from the

pre-Internet era, including two meta-analyses that compared the utility of computer-based

instruction to traditional teaching methods. The studies used a variety of designs in both

training and academic environments, with inconsistent results for many outcomes. Yet learners'

knowledge, measured by pre-post test scores, was shown to improve. Moreover, learners using

computer-based instruction learned more efficiently and demonstrated better retention.

6.
Recent reviews of the e-learning (specifically Web-based learning) literature in diverse

medical education contexts reveal similar findings. Chumley-Jones and colleagues reviewed

76 studies from the medical, nursing, and dental literature on the utility of Web-based learning.

About one-third of the studies evaluated knowledge gains, most using multiple-choice written

tests, although standardized patients were used in one study. In terms of learners' achievements

in knowledge, Web-based learning was equivalent to traditional methods. Of the two studies

evaluating learning efficiency, only one demonstrated evidence for more efficient learning via

Web-based instruction.

A substantial body of evidence in the nonmedical literature has shown, on the basis of

sophisticated cost analysis, that e-learning can result in significant cost-savings, sometimes as

much as 50%, compared with traditional instructor-led learning. Savings are related to reduced

instructor training time, travel costs, and labor costs, reduced institutional infrastructure, and

the possibility of expanding programs with new educational technologies. Only one study in

the medical literature evaluated the cost-effectiveness of e-learning as compared with text-

based learning. The authors found the printing and distribution of educational materials to be

less costly than creating and disseminating e-learning content.

Studies in both the medical and nonmedical literature have consistently demonstrated

that students are very satisfied with e-learning. Learners' satisfaction rates increase with e-

learning compared to traditional learning, along with perceived ease of use and access,

navigation, interactivity, and user-friendly interface design. Interestingly, students do not see

e-learning as replacing traditional instructor-led training but as a complement to it, forming

part of a blended-learning strategy.

7.
This study investigated the longitudinal trends of e‐learning research using text mining

techniques. Six hundred and eighty‐nine (689) refereed journal articles and proceedings were

retrieved from the Science Citation Index/Social Science Citation Index database in the period

from 2000 to 2008. All e‐learning publications were grouped into two domains with four

groups/15 clusters based on abstract analysis. Three additional variables: subject areas, prolific

countries and prolific journals were applied to data analysis and data interpretation.

Conclusions include that e‐learning research is at the early majority stage and foci have shifted

from issues of the effectiveness of e‐learning to teaching and learning practices. Educational

studies and projects and e‐learning application in medical education and training are growing

fields with the highest potential for future research. Approaches to e‐learning differ between

leading countries and early adopter countries, and government policies play an important role

in shaping the results.

Corporate learning and the corporate learning organization have ascended to a position

of strategic prominence in the context of managing and growing enterprise that has been related

today (Mcrea, Grey & Bacon, 2000) The recent research shows that the effectiveness of using

new digital technologies in every students are very useful for their study (Hennessy, 2010).

Despite the enormous growth of e-learning in education and its perceived benefits, the

efficiency of such tools will not be fully utilized if the users inclined to not accept and use the

system. Therefore, the successful implementation of e-learning tools depends on whether or

not the students are willing to adopt and accept the technology. Thus, it has become imperative

for practitioners and policy makers to understand the factors affecting the user acceptance of

web-based learning systems in order to enhance the students’ learning experience (Tarhini,

2014). However, recent studies have shown that e-learning implementation is not simply a

technological solution, but also a process of many different factors such as social factors

8.
(Schepers and Wetzels, 2007)( Tarhini, 2015), and individual factors, organizational

such as facilitating conditions (Sun and Zhang, 2006) in addition to behavioral and cultural

factors (Masoumi, 2010).Such major factors play an important role in how an information

technology is developed and used (Kim and Moore, 2005).

They suggested the ten points to have successful distance learning:

 Determine needs up front.

 Look to distance learning as a way to revitalize and innovate existing training

programs.

 Use multilevel evaluation approaches.

 Keep the focus on what is learned, not on the technology that is helping you learn.

 Market distance learning programs internally and externally.

 Use on-site coordination.

 Obtain local field manager commitment.

 Make sure the instructors are well trained.

 Design programs specifically for distance learning.

 Use reliable equipment.

According to Christina Gómez, that internet has been all around us forever. That people

almost cannot leave without internet, how can people communicate to others when they

are far from each other. And she said that public school learns how to use Google as search

engine especially the teachers and students. Internet is not just digital place and to interact,

it is technologies which were to enhance the learners’ experience.

Learning are effectively gain are knowledge and do we really need to increase our computer

components for academic purposes. Findings show that Extremely Agree (4.00 – 3.45) is the

highest among the indicators and the lowest are the Disagree. According to the record that we

analyzed, most of the student extremely agree that E-Learning helps the student gain more

knowledge and information that they can apply to their future and everyday life. For the

needs of the students for information they agree that our school need to increase the

computers so that it will be easy for the students to research of what they need to know and

what they need to learn and we believe that E-Learning can make a student’s more productive

to schools activities.

15.
Table 3 shows that how many of the respondents believe that E-Learning can help to the

students and can make the education easier to gain more knowledge and information. The

data indicates the number of how effectively E-learning helps the students and the school

need to increase their computers and lab for academic purposes. Despite the enormous

growth of e-learning in education and its perceived benefits, the efficiency of such tools will

not be fully utilized if the users inclined to not accept and use the system. Therefore, the

successful implementation of e-learning tools depends on whether or not the students are

willing to adopt and accept the technology. Thus, it has become imperative for practitioners
