Security (Custody Transfer Mode)

• Tamper switch
Each flow module has a mechanical tamper switch to prevent changing of the
application or vital parameters within that application. The tamper switch itself
can be sealed
• Metrological seal
All enclosures have the option of locking the flow computer with a lead seal to
prevent access to the tamper switch of the individual modules (see below). In
the Flow-X/S, one bar is used to seal all installed modules with one lead seal.

Metrological seal

• The BS&W analyzer (basic sediment and water) measures the amount of water in crude oil in the pipe
line. (0-5%)

• The BS&W is linked with the 3 way valve:

• Water content > 1%* for more than 60s* = The 3 way valve diverts the flow to the “reject pipline”

• Water content <1%* for more then 60s* = The 3 way valve will change the direction to the stream
process line and flow measurement will start

product and API table

Slide 38 03/12/2019 Daniel Wassmer

E+H LACT Unit: ABB-Spirit Flow Computer

Display - Batch
• Batch end command terminates the current batch on condition that Batch end allowed shows Yes. By
default, a batch end is not permitted if flow is present, or if no product has yet been delivered. Both
these conditions are adjustable via Home / Configuration / Run / Batching
• Batch ID is an adjustable text entry that the user may optionally enter to identify batches (for example,
a ship name). It may be entered at any time during the batch, and at the end of the batch it can be used
to identify logs.

• Batch number cur is an automatic

counter, which increments each time
a new batch begins. There is no
specific command to start a new
batch: this is done automatically when
flow is detected following the end of a
previous batch.

• Current batch start date and time

are initialized to the end time of the
previous batch, but then updated once
when flow is first detected.

Slide 39 03/12/2019 Daniel Wassmer

Display - Batch

• Batch stack: if enabled, a batch stack (a sequence of max. 6

predefined batches) can be defined

• Batch ID, Product Nr (always same for LACT unit), Customer

Name (always same for LACT unit) und batch size can be entered

• If Seq #1 (Batch 1) is ended, a second batch with the data entered

in Seq #2 will start and so on…

• Can be enabled, but this function is normally not used for such
kind of project setup.

• Batch recalculation: If enabled, the last batch (only the last

one!) can be recalculated. A recalculation is possible while the
next batch is active

• After analyzing a sample in the laboratory, the water content and

the standard density can be entered for recalculation:

• If the meter get proved by the SVP (small volume pisten

prover)after a batch, a new meter factor can be entered.

• Click on and a recalculated meter ticket (batch

report) will be printed and stored in the flow computer

• Attention: Printing and storing recalculated tickets is currently

not enabled. If required, this has to be changed in the main
application (not via the webserver) by E+H

Slide 42 03/12/2019 Daniel Wassmer

E+H LACT Unit: ABB-Spirit Flow Computer

Batch settings for LACT unit

Settings to define (Home / Configuration / Overall setup / Common settings):

• Batch end command: May a batch be ended when the meter is active (flow present) or only if meter is not
active (no flow)?

• Batch end command: May a batch be ended if no flow for the current batch was detected?

• Batch start command: Disabled -> after a batch end, a new batch will be automatically
started. Best practice since there will be always an batch active
Enabled –> without giving the start command, no new batch will be started.
Risk that somebody will forget to start an new batch!

• All totals inactive after batch end: DO NOT ENABLE! If flow is passing the flowmeter without having an batch
active, no totalizer at all will count.

• Shift batch stack on batch end: Enables the bach stack function. (details are shown on slide 41)

• Station batch recalculation: Enables batch recalculation function. (details are shown on slide 42)
