I’m excited to build on the programming we’ve offered year after year and the work of
those who founded Origins Game Fair 45 years ago. All your familiar favorites at
Origins are back again this year, plus some new and expanded events. The Exhibit Hall
is filled with more than 250 booths. Artist Alley is as strong as ever and we’ve expand-
ed the Origins Library program with sixteen writers in a new location on the main con-
Awards & Honors
course. And for the first time, we are offering the option to purchase a print or digital
copy of the Anthology.
We have tripled the amount of Open Gaming space to nearly 10,000 square feet and
6 have upgraded the play experience in the Board Room with neoprene gaming mats and
table coverings. In an effort to enhance the value of attending Origins, we have made
most of the workshops and seminars in the Origins University complimentary, expand-
ed the Quiet Room, added a new Family & Community Room with gaming and program-
ming aimed towards families, and partnered with Path to Path to offer a Sensory-
Friendly Gaming Room for those on the autism spectrum.

Guests of Honor this year include designer Elisa Teague, artist Lisa Sell, and authors
Mercedes Lackey and Larry Nixon. Other special guests include actors Charisma Car-
penter (Charmed, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Veronica Mars); Nicholas Bren-
don (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Criminal Minds); Juliet Landau (Buffy the
Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Doctor Who audiobooks); Wendy Padbury (Doctor Who and
Emmerdale), Frazer Hines (Doctor Who and Emmerdale), Gleume Cosplay, and Amanda
Robinson (3 Rivers Cosplay).
Other notable attendees include Czech game designer Vlaada Chvátl who created

Codenames and fantasy artist and illustrator Gerald Brom who is well known for his
gothic artwork in role-playing games, card games, novels, and comics. The two of them
will be inducted in the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts and Design Hall of Fame on
Saturday during the Origins Awards Ceremony.
Again, thank you for attending Origins and helping to make it one of the largest and
best gaming conventions in the world. With your help we can work together to fulfill our
vision of “A game on every table, a table for every gamer.”

all saddened and shocked in the late summer of 2018 when Andrea was
diagnosed with angiosarcoma. Although she fought hard, the cancer
moved faster than anyone expected, and Andrea passed away on Novem-
ber 17th, 2018, surrounded by her partners, friends, and family. Andrea
brought love, laughter, and an infectious spirit of joy to everyone whose
life she touched, and this memorial can only scratch the surface of the
beautiful soul that she was.
