COURSE CODE: HIS101


COURSE TITLE: Philippine History, Society and Governance
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course offers a panoramic view of the events in the History of
the Philippines from what is the Prehistory of the Philippines to the
contemporary period. This is a multi layered course which is a macro
presentation of the cultural, political, and social history of the
Philippines with amplified discussion on the evolution of Philippine
Society and Government.
CREDIT: 3 units (3 hours lecture/week)
PRE-REQUISITE: none
CLASS SCHEDULE:

II. PURPOSE/OBJECTIVES:

GENERAL OBJECTIVES
To provide the students with an understanding of the historical development of the Philippines as a
nation and the development of Philippine nationalism.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
At the end of the course the students should:

COGNITIVE
1. Recognize the milestones in the history of the Philippines
2. Be knowledgeable and understand the events of the past that are significant to the development of
the Philippines.
3. Recognize the development of Philippines in the cultural, economic, political, and social aspects of
society.

AFFECTIVE
1. Be able to appreciate the cultural, political, social and historical tradition of the Philippines
2. Be able to identify the true meaning of being a Filipino and Filipino nationalism

PSYCHOMOTOR
1. Develop the positive attitude of appreciating the history of the Filipino as a people.
