Maintenance requirements for unsold products.

This bulletin temporarily replaces (overrides) Volvo Penta's current policy concerning best-before dates. All
products delivered more than 36 months after their "original" delivery date will have their available warranty period
reduced by the number of months by which the 36-month shelf life period is exceeded. The local Volvo Penta
office must be contacted for approval of all of the products covered by this bulletin, and each product will be
handled on a case-by-case basis.

Repairs carried out to maintain the warranty will be at the dealer's expense.

Products affected
All Volvo Penta gasoline and diesel engines with associated Volvo Penta transmissions (reverse gears,
IPS units, S drives and AQ drives) delivered from Volvo Penta.

NOTICE! Maintenance must be carried out on all products held in stock.

Background
If any products remain in the dealer's inventory for an abnormally long period before delivery, it may
affect the products' remaining warranty as the best-before date may be exceeded. This bulletin
specifies the maintenance that must be carried out to extend the best-before date and allow the product
to continue to qualify for the applicable warranty. Failure to comply with the measures set forth in this
bulleting may result in a reduced warranty for discontinued products when these are sold.

Dealers can see best-before dates in the Product Center in the Volvo Penta Partner Network. Click
"Create owner registration” or “Create new warranty claim”. The best-before date is displayed on both
pages. In North America, use Delivery date.

All maintenance, inspection and necessary repairs must be performed by an authorized Volvo Penta
service dealer and be completed before delivery to the end user. All repair costs are the dealer's
responsibility and will not be accepted by Volvo Penta.

For products not installed or installed in unsold vessels/machinery that remain in the dealer's inventory:
a) Less than 12 months after the date of delivery from Volvo Penta
Carry out standard procedures for storage according to Service Bulletin 05-2-2 (diesel products)
or 23-0-2 (gasoline products).

b) More than 12 months after the date of delivery from Volvo Penta without any upcoming
delivery
Carry out standard procedures for storage according to Service Bulletin 05-2-2 (diesel products)
or 23-0-2 (gasoline products) and also perform the appropriate activities describe below prior to
delivery (action (d), (e) or (f)).

Remarks
All maintenance, inspection and necessary repairs must be performed by an authorized Volvo Penta
service dealer and be finished before delivery to the end user. All repair costs are the dealer's
responsibility and will not be accepted by Volvo Penta.

The service dealer must immediately contact the local Volvo Penta office to create an Argus case
for every product that undergoes service according to this bulletin. A Vodia card must be created
(where applicable) and sent to the local Volvo Penta office. The Vodia card must be attached to the
Argus case together with a copy of the repair order(s) (upon which must be noted all work carried
out as a result of this bulletin).

Volvo Penta will accept no responsibility nor assume any warranty obligations for faults caused by
prolonged or improper storage of the products.

Penta (i.e. Twin-Disc, and ZF transmissions) if they are not Volvo Penta labeled and are not included
