Rake and Bake
Lick 24

Now we're getting serious. But as always, talking about it, writing about it,
and reading about it makes all of this seem way more complex that it
actually feels. You already know what I mean, don't you?

Open up a basic English grammar book: Verbs, nouns, adjectives, past

tense, present tense, adverb, conjugation, subjunctive, determiner...read a
few pages and notice your eyes glossing over and head nodding? All these
words are used to describe what we do intuitively every day, with no little
thought whatsoever. We learn the language as kids and then learn to "feel"
when we are using words correctly and creatively. Same with music; learn
the language, then feel, and in our case see the licks on the guitar, all will
flow naturally once the process is started.

"Rake & Bake" outlines a lead-up to the 3rd of Dm7, past the 3rd to the 5th,
back down to the 3rd before switching (again on the beat) to b9-b13-3rd of
G7 and on down to F of G7 and finally the 3rd of Cmaj7 (E). Notice that the
b9-b13-3rd of G7 looks like a little Abm triad. Cool!
