The peer review is the validation process for the research work before they are

published by different journals. It is a like filter to verify the findings of the research

work and to highlight the flaws existing in the work. The peer review is a critical

analysis process and it cannot only improve the quality of research work but also

increase the knowledge of peer reviewer. The main components of the peer review are

that the person performing the process should have certain skills to analyze and

critically evaluate the research work, specific guidelines should be followed in the peer

review process and the anonymity of both the author and peer reviewer should be

ensured.

2. The peer review can be helpful for the graduate and undergraduate students because the

skills learn in the process can help them at the next phase of their study when they will

publish their paper for postgraduate research. Although, students don’t generally like

the peer review process but if the importance of the peer review can be told to them it

can motivate them to actively participate in the peer review. By doing peer review

students can learn to read critically, they can easily consider their audience while

writing their essays and papers, and they can enhance their writing skills by knowing

the common mistakes in their peer’s work.

3. In academia, the peer review process is done by following a certain criterion which is

usually devised by the publisher. From selection of reviewers to the validation of work,

there are certain guidelines which are followed to ensure that there is no biasness,

prejudice and any kind of influence which can compromise the integrity of the peer

review process. The quality control filter is must in the peer review process.
