Position: FOREMAN/ VARNISHER/ PAINTER
Job Description:
Responsible for mixing, matching and applying paint to various surfaces
Completing touch ups and coordinating large painting projects. (Ex. For mixing
Paints) Make green (mix blue and yellow). Make orange (Mix red and yellow).
Make brown (mix red and black).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Apply paint to surface including canvas, walls, floors, doors and cabinets.
 Paint landscapes, portraits and abstract art using oil paints or other kinds of paint.
 Mix, match and apply paint, varnish, shellac, enamel and other finishes.
 Scrape, sandpaper, prime or seal surfaces prior painting.
 Clean walls to ensure proper adherence.
 Cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection.
 Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs.
 Fill cracks, holes and joints with caulk, putty, plaster or other fillers using caulking guns
or putty knives.
 Erect scaffolding, movable and immovable staging and various rigging to gain access to
difficult areas; moves furniture and equipment as necessary.
 Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps and electric switch covers prior to
painting.
 Select and buy paint from vendors.
 Negotiate prices.
 Purchase quality brushes.
 Apply several coats according to paint directions.
  Tape off areas when needed
 Apply touch-ups or second coats.
 Remove paint splatters when finished.
 Clean up all equipment, including brushes and spray guns.
 Utilize spray guns for large jobs.
 Work on ladders to reach high ceiling or walls.

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
 10 years of experience as a painter.
 Highly skilled in preparing surfaces by scraping, wire brushing or sanding to a smooth
finish.
 Profound ability to choose and mix paints and stains to reach desired color and
appearance.
 Able to calculate the area to be painted and the quantity of paint required.
 Demonstrated ability to make out different paints in accordance to value for money and
quality.
 Proficient in maintaining inventory associated with paint jobs.
 Proficient in adhering to safety precautions associated with using paints and thinners and
physical locations.
