CHAPTER I

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

INTRODUCTION

Education is an action or process of teaching someone especially in

schools colleges, and universities (Merriam Webster). Through education

knowledge, skills, and understanding can be acquired. Without education,

success is impossible in every people. It helps us to succeed in life and have

a stable job in the future to secure out future families also, it’s a cliché manner

in the world that education must be taken up by everyone.

Education includes the participation of teachers and students, the

actual picture of education is that teacher guiding his/her students to attain

the end goal which is learning. Learning in the other hand, takes place the

students were bought up to the higher lever of application. One sign that a

single student is learning is when he/she participate to the lesson.

Participation is the part when the students are simply actively involving to the

discussion of the teacher or facilitator

Through participation, there will be a symbiotic relationship between

the students and the teachers. It is normal thing that participation is included

and will never be taken away in the principle of education. Why? Because
participation is the biggest part that influence the grade of every student.

Getting a low or high grade will depend on how you perform on school. And

this is something to do with the process of education.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

According to Merriam Webster low-grades defined as adjective, inferior

grade or quality. It says that low-grades are being near that extreme of a

specified range which is lowest. In addition, it is least in tense, least serious,

or least competent. In some research low-grade is one of the reasons that

students get failed. And through the performance of the students the grade

can evaluated.

Nowadays, low-grades became more and more manifested through

the report cards of the students. Also low-grade is one of the reason why

students failed. Just like in the research of Ron Kurtus’ that there are many

justification why most of the students get low-grade in the subject matter. One

example of this is the subject is hard for him/her, lack of motivation, and

personal issues. Through this problem many students were unsuccessful in

their studies.

Today we need to avoid to have low-grade in every subject. Because

through avoiding it, we can easily manage our studies. If we help each other

then we can avoid the factors on how we get failed grades. In terms of failing
grades or low-grades note that knowledge if important, but hardship is more

important.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

1. What is the essence of the class record to the student

performance?

2. Where is the Monitoring Process relying to?

3. What is the benefit of the flyer to the students?

SCOPE AND LIMITATION

This study will focus on the factors that affect student performance,

school year 2018-2019.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The purpose of this study is to get the factors that affect students’

performance and the result of the study will be essential and beneficial to the

following:

Teachers. In this study, teacher will get more benefit and can easily

understand what is the factors that affects performance. Through this the

teachers may help students to do well in studying.

Students. This research will help the students to avoid the factors that

affecting their performance.

Future Researchers. They may use this research as a source of

some information that might useful in their research assignment and projects.

This study will serve as a guide to them in making a research.

Parents. They may be aware on the factors that affect students’

performances

DEFINITION OF TERMS

Class Record. is the list of scores of the student’s work.

Flyers. a printed material that is given to someone to give information

about something.

Monitoring. is the actual observation on something.

Education. is the key to success that everyone wanted to acquire.

Performance. is one way of rating the learning upon students.

CHAPTER II

RELATED LITERATURE

According to Siqueire (2011), they define the poor school performance

as a achievement below the expected for a given age, cognitive skills, and

schooling. In a review literature Siqueira and Juliana classifies the causes of

poor school performance to two macro groups. First is the Pedagogical and

second are the Diseases and associated disabilities. They believe that

pushing students beyond their capabilities, skills, and interest lead to lack of

interest, demotivation, and distraction which in turns results in frustration,

failure, low self-esteem besides family and school stress.

In addition, Tumapon, (2016) students learning by using a grading

system is not a holiday. As has been said many times our evaluation can

never be objective. Shall we say then that we teacher try as much as possible

to be accurate – that is the grade we give is an unbiased measure of the

student’s performance within a designated timeline.

In conformity with Ozaeta (2013), barely three weeks after a student of

University of the Philippines- Manila took her life over failure to pay tuition,

two students in Batangas shot themselves dead after receiving failing grades

in separate incidents Friday afternoon.

The statement above is connected to the research topic because

students ge a low grades through the thing mentioned above. The statements
above, the researchers does not only focus on how the students get a low

grades in terms of academic performance. But also in the effects of low

grades in the students who are experiencing this. Lastly it also deals on how

the teachers will grade a particular students and the grading system.
CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

Case study research design will be used in this study. This design is

used discern what is the factors that affects students performances.

The researchers will use this research design as it seeks to find

answer to why such thing accurse to the subject.

Probability sampling technique is use gather population. Sample

Random Sampling will be used by the researchers through picking random

students from Grade 11 HUMSS, to know what factors affect students’

performance.

The population in this study is all the students of Grade 11 HUMSS.

While, the sample are 15 students of Grade 11 HUMSS. They are the

persons who have the characteristics of failing grades in Entrepreneurship.

Sample random sampling technique is use to discern what is the

factors that affects the students’ performance. This is through the names of

seventy five (75) Grade 11 HUMSS students in a sheet of paper. Then

picking up fifteen(15) students randomly to be the respondents.

FINDINGS

Questionnaire

The researchers found out that the different way of teaching has the

highest favorable answer, while the lowest is the letter C. can’t understand the

teaching.

Interview

help does students with low performance in Entrepreneurship is “to

participate”. Furthermore the researcher noticed that the respondents we’re

shy to answer questions about their grades.

Observation

The researchers observed that the most of students who has a low

performance is not listening well. While some of the students are shy to

answer.

Overall Summary

The researcher found out that the most of the respondents is not

listening because the thought that the way of teaching is very different. As a

result, all of the respondents has a low performance in Entrepreneurship.

CHAPTER V

SUMMARY

To summarize the results, the researchers found out that most of the

students are not listening or attentive because of the teachers different way of

teaching.

CONCLUSION

Most of the students get low grades is performance because they are

not listening and the cause of that is the teachers different way of teaching.

The students get bored along the period or simply they can’t understand the

teaching.

RECOMMENDATION

or simply change the way teaching goes, the teacher may add some activity

or fun games to make the students alive and attentive during the period.
