Application Instruction
a. Remove moisture oil, dust scale & etc on the surface by rag, chipper & scraper.
b. Primer steel surface for old pile and thinly coat with TAM Petro Paste 0.15 kg/m 2
c. Wrap TAM Petro Tape around the surface while applying tension to assure tight tape adhesion
d. Outer wrap recommended for the prevention of wrapped TAM Petro Tape from mechanical damages and for
the good appearance of the wrapped items

TAM Petrolatum Tape is mainly composed with Petrolatum, inert fillers and special anti-corrosion agents for the
protection against corrosion and water-proofing of pipes, flanges, valves, pilings and complex steel structure.
It has good resistance to acids, alkalis, salts and bacterial.
Physical Properties

The Material

TAM anti corrosive primer 393 is epoxy based coating for anti corrosion of the steel pile, that recommended by
old structures.
TAM Petro paste #310W is petrolatum base primer component for increasing adhesion with water displacing
agents.
TAM Petro Tape is Petrolatum base anti-corrosion Tape. The Petrolatum tape is a soft, viscous, good-wetting
material, which adheres. Comparatively well to rusty or slightly moist steel and possess low water vapor transmission
rate characteristics.

 The surface preparation requires the removal of all foreign material, including loose oxides, heavy blisters, etc.
The foreign material can be removed by power tool devices or by hand tools. Welds shall be cleaned of all welding
slag, spatter and scale and shall be allowed to cool before the coating is applied. Sharp edges or bars that could
puncture or cut the tape shall be removed by grinding or steel brush.

PRIMING

After proper surface preparation, TAM Petro Paste #310W is to be apply, the primer shall protect the metal
surface before application of the tape and promote adhesion of the tape to the surface. Apply primer by hand
(glove), brush or Mechanical means to assure preferential wetting of the surface. Drying or curing of the primer will
not be required. Thinly coat with TAM Petro Paste #310W 0.15 kg/m 2

WRAPPING APPLICATION

TAM Anti corrosion Petro Tape shall be applied after application of the primer. The main function of the tape
coating is to serve as the corrosion barrier. TAM Anti – Corrosion Petro Tap comes in various widths. The widths used
will depend on the outside diameter of the steel pile. TAM Anti-Corrosion Petro Tape shall be applied spirally making
sure proper tension in applied and minimum wrinkles are present while overlapping the tape with a minimum overlap
of 50% as specified by manufacturer and the National American Corrosion Engineering.

PROTECTIVE COVER

High density polyethylene (HDPE) is to be applied to ensure that no mechanical damage can occur of the TAM
Petro Tape, this will protect the coating system.

- HDPE protective cover is sheet wrap around piles fasten by T-rap strapping system and buckle
with 20 cm spacing of banding.
