ABOUT THE PROJECT
“Peerform it!” is a project of European dimension funded under the Key Action 1 of the
European Commission’s programme Erasmus+. Its main objective is to join together
different organisations focused on promoting intercultural values and teaching second
languages to young people thanks to the use of non formal and theater tools. The main
activity implemented during the project will be a transnational seminar that will take place
between the 18th and 23rd of April 2017 in Ezcaray (Spain), and on which
20 professionals from six different countries will take part. Coordinated by Asociación
Juvenil Teatral ON&OFF (ES) with the cooperation of Theatre - Studio “Studentina” (BG),
Association for promotion of IT, Culture and Coexistence (IKS) (HR), Associazione
Culturale Zoe (IT), Stichting The English Theatre (STET) (NL) and Asociaţia Bolyongo
Színházi Egyesület (RO), this seminar will allow that representatives from these
organisations and managers of their programmes can participate in a programme of work
designed not only to provide them a new knowledge and skills on interculturality through
theater, but also on how to use them at transnational level as a tool to achieve the social
inclusion of youth on their communities and their development.
Moreover, this programme will aim to increase the funding possibilities and transnational
cooperation of the project partners thanks to activities related to give visibility and discover
programmes such as Erasmus+ as a tool to facilitate the networking among them. This will
make possible to create synergies among these entities and their staff on the
implementation of education projects that could involve young people from different
countries, increasing also the technical capacity of their teams on the coordination and
management of this kind of initiatives. The seminar will also contain dynamics to reinforce
the networks of the project partners at international level thanks tovisits to public
institutions and local partners of ON&OFF as hosting entity. This will make possible that
project partners can discover how the organisation manages its programmes, work with
other actors at local level and see how ON&OFF has implemented other European
projects under Erasmus+ on the last years. To achieve all the goals mentioned before and
the project objectives, all the activities designed will promote an active and cooperative
participation among participants as peers thanks to workshops and group dynamics that
will facilitate to learn about all the partner organisations, their programmes, best practices
on intercultural education using theatre and discover the peculiarities of all the countries
involved in the project.
Erasmus+ 2016-3-ESO2-KA105-008926 4
Besides this, the project (and especially its final seminar) has been designed as a
framework on which participants could work on the construction and creation of new
transnational initiatives after “Peerform it!” to develop new intellectual outputs focused on
the use of theater as learning tool towards interculturality (promoting among young people
inclusive values such as solidarity, tolerance or intercultural dialogue).
Finally, the project will provide a visibility system that will increase the presence of its
partners on their local communities. This will also provide them a better position on the
European field thanks to tools such as press notes, regular publications on social networks
and the creation of a blog that will contain all the information about the project, news and
the main result of the “Peerform it!”: a document containing all the good practices showed
during the seminar and the materials created on it.

Asociación Juvenil Teatral ON&OFF La Rioja (Spain)
In the year 2000 the youth association ON&OFF was created in
Logroño as a non-profit organisation to join together all the ex-
students and current students of a local theater school: Teatro
Dinámica. The main aim of ON&OFF is to promote cultural and
artistic initiatives, with a lack of political, religious or favourable intentions, and always
trying to create an intercultural framework for the participation, understanding and
inclusion of all its members, the society of Logroño and the youth in general.
๏ To join together those young people interested on the theater and drama using learning
groups, experimentation and staging.
๏ To organize cultural and leisure time activities for youth.
๏ To take part on participative events such as meetings, exchanges, contests, etc. at local,
national or international level.
๏ To cooperate with local entities and administrations on the implementation of theater
spectacles at local, national or international level.
๏ To carry out training courses, workshops and activities for educating children, youth and
adults (intergenerational projects).
๏ To create specific working and learning groups for improving staging on any field (lights,
sound, atrezzo, etc.).
๏ To promote the participation of children and youth in cooperation with the municipality of
Logroño and with the Department for Childhood and Youth of the government of La Rioja
(“Área de Infancia y Juventud del Gobierno de La Rioja”) in order to develop theater
contests and performances.
๏ To develop participation meetings to allow young people the exchange of good practices,
information and personal experiences.
๏ To performance open theater plays for private and/or public entities.
๏ To manage groups of young people who could take part on initiatives coordinated by
other partner organisations out of Logroño (meetings, youth exchanges, seminars, etc.).
๏ To organize cultural and free time activities for its members (trips, excursions, visits,
camps, etc.).
๏ To cooperate on the public events organized every year by the municipality of Logroño
(Ex. Christmas or carnival public parades).
Besides these regular objectives and goals, the board of the organisation propose every
year new activities and challenges related to theater and drama that could be considered
interesting for the members of the organisation. These new challenges or participation
opportunities offer to all the members of ON&OFF new ways of participation and learning,
that do not only improve their skills on the theater field, but that also help them to develop
their personal competences, self initiative and entrepreneurship.
Furthermore, the non-formal and drama methodologies used regularly by the entity, make
all its acitivities accesible and suitable for any kind of users, promoting the participation of
young people with fewer opportunities and especially of those with mobility, expression
and/or communication difficulties.

Stichting The English Theatre (STET) (The Netherlands)
STET The English Theatre ‘s mission is to provide high quality English-language theatre in
the Netherlands including an education programme for both primary and secondary
schools. It works closely together with the Nationale Theater in The Hague in fulfilling this
mission. A wide programme of yearly 8 to 15 productions is offered to its audiences. As a
matter of policy all productions are combined with an educational offer, which is offered to
a wide network of education institutions in the Netherlands, both Dutch and international.
Principles
๏ High quality English level (90% native speakers)
๏ Only professional theatre makers
๏ Personal contact, careful panning and
tailor-made educational programmes
Why is it a neccesity?
๏ A lot of international schools
๏ A lot of Dutch schools have high quality
English lessons
๏ There was not enough on offer
๏ There where not enough companies
offering to travel to the schools
Why do we do it?
๏ To educate in a different way
๏ To have fun together and release tension built up throughout the day
๏ To build confidence (in speaking and listening)
๏ To enable youngsters to think in different way, to sparkle their imagination, to
express themselves in a different way
๏ To inspire them and engage with them
Erasmus+ 2016-3-ESO2-KA105-008926 15
ACTIVITIES OF THE ORGANIZATION:
STET offers a programme that consists of a varied offer from comedy to classical texts,
family productions as well as work on location in the open-air or at specially chosen
locations. The audience is broad: from 3 to 99 years old and with different social
backgrounds, from CEO’s to students, from grannies to kindergarten children.
They work with companies from around the world with an emphasis on English speaking
countries. However a new development is to have productions in another language with
English subtitles.
Since 2013 STET has a special education officer, who has built up a broadening network
of international and Dutch schools where the STET productions are offered. STET
education works nationwide and some of the work is permanently on offer as the
(international) performers live and work in the Netherlands.
STET’s education officer works therefore with a wide
offer for both primary and secondary schools. All
educational activities are offered to broaden the students
experience as human beings, creating a learning
environment for expression through drama. Some
workshops offer a deepened knowledge of a specific
play or playwright, whilst other workshops are more skill
oriented to develop presentation and speaking skills,
English as a second language and body awareness.

Storytelling Performances
Caja van der Poel is a true Dutch international, who was born in Singapure and travelled
the World in her early years with her Dutch parents. She now lives in The Hague and is a
professional storyteller for children. Her stories are all about magic and imagination, she
loves wonder and also loves wonder tales, the idea, that everything is connected. She
starts her sessions by lighting a candle – a tradition of storytelling and ends her last short
story with blowing the candle out. Her sessions inspire these young children to tell their
own stories, ask questions that came into their minds, and make them think about reality
and magic – something that in their heads are such close friends.
These sessions give something extra to the children. A told story is never the same as a
seen one, it requires more imagination and this is something we need to continue doing for
years!

Interculturality Reloaded
Participants from these countries worked together using theatre as main tool for
intercultural understanding and reflection. The main aim of this project funded under the
Key Action 1 of the Erasmus+ programme was to provide to young participants a
framework to explore different questions related to the main issue of the exchange and to
show them the importance of their role as citizens and on the mutual understanding of the
European cultures. Using dramatic methodologies and non-formal activities, participants
discovered how their cultural differences can become learning opportunities. They
explored together those cultural facts that they have in common or are different, and
reflected on the stereotypes, labels or prejudices that they could have about the countries
involved on the project.
Thanks to the use of the “dramatic game”, improvisations, debates or role playing,
participants shared their experiences and realized about the different cultural facts of their
home countries. According to this, the project achieved a mutual understanding through a
common aim: make questions and find the answers together. Besides this, the exchange
offered constant interactive activities between the young participants thanks to mixed
group tasks, energizers, open air games and other methodologies related to the theatre
field.

Erasmus+ 2016-3-ESO2-KA105-008926 28
Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and
sport. It runs for seven years, from 2014 to 2020, with organisations invited to apply for
funding each year to undertake creative and worthwhile activities.
Erasmus+ aims to modernise education, training and youth work across Europe. It
is open to education, training, youth and sport organisations across all sectors of lifelong
learning, including school education, further and higher education, adult education and the
youth sector. It offers exciting opportunities for participants to then study, work, volunteer,
teach and train abroad in Europe.
Key Actions (also referred to as Actions) is the collective name for activities and projects
that can be funded under Erasmus+. There are three Key Action areas which can be
summarised as:
Key Action 1: This is all about providing opportunities for individuals to improve their skills,
enhance their employability and gain cultural awareness. Under Key Action 1
organisations can apply for funding to run mobility projects to offer structured study, work
experience, job shadowing, training and teaching opportunities to staff and learners.
Key Action 2:This is all about enabling organisations to work together in order to improve
their provision for learners and share innovative practices. Under Key Action 2
organisations can apply for funding to work in partnership with organisations from other
participating countries.
Key Action 3:This Key Action covers any type of activity aimed at supporting and
facilitating the modernisation of education and training systems. Under Key Action 3, the
Erasmus+ programme will fund strategic activities supporting policy reform across the EU
in education, training and youth.
