Q9. Isotopes Protium 1 H , 1Deuterium (1)
Isobars Argon 4018Ar , Calcium 4020Ca (1)
Chemical properties of isotopes are same because they have same atomic number and hence same no. of
valence electrons.Physical properties differ because they have same mass number. (1)

Q10. a) empty space in an atom, Small portion in the centre is hard and dense, Positively charge centre, whole
mass of an atom is concentrated inside the nucleus (2)
b) Ca3(PO4)2 (½) NH4OH (1/2)
Q11 .Immunisation is developing the ability of a body to fight diseases by artificial means.
When immune system first dees a microbe, it responds against it and it remembers
it specifically. When next time that particular microbe enters the body, our immune
system responds with great vigour and eliminates infection. (1+1+1)

Q12. Thrust = 100N, P= (f/a)= 100000 Pa. (1+1+1)

Q13. No, this decrease in P.E appears as an equal amount of increase in K.E., Thus
P.E+K.E=constant (1+2)
Q14. (a)F= 250 X 10 =2500 N, W=F X S = 2500 J, (b)Zero, (c) Muscular energy used up.(1+1+1)

b. Arthropoda -----Cockroach / any other example
c. Porifera ------Sycon , spongilla / any other example
Q17. Antibiotics block biochemical pathways important for bacteria. Many antibiotics
work against many species of bacteria. (1 ½)
Viruses do not use these pathways as they are dependent upon host machinery for their
life processes. (1 ½)

Q18. a. Infectious diseases can spread from one infected person to another. They are caused
by infectious agents. (1)
Non infectious diseases do not spread from one infected person to another. They are not
caused by infectious agents .They are caused by internal causes. (1)
b. Microbe, Poverty, Malnutrition (1)

Q19.( a) 1 Mole of CO2 = 12 + 32 =44 ( ½)

1 Mole of CO2 contains 6.022 x 1023 molecules
6.022 x 1023 molecules of CO2 =44g
1.0505 x 1023 molecules of CO2 = 44 x 1.0505 x1023 (1)
-----------------------
6.022 x 1023
=46.22/6.022 = 7.66 g ( ½)
(b) 1 mole of NH3 = 6.022 x 1023
0.25 mole of NH3 = 0.25 x 6.022 x 1023
= 1.505 x 1023 molecules (1)

(c) Formula unit mass of Na2 so3

2 Na+ 1 S + 3 O =2 X23 +32 + 3X 16
= 46 +32 +48 =126u (2)

Q20. (i) Work is done by Suma and the work done is positive.
(ii) Force is perpendicular to displacement, work done is zero.
(iii) Work is done and it is positive.
(iv) no work is done (1+2+1+1)

Q21. a)The body’s immune system is activated in response to infection.

An active immune system recruits many cells to the affected tissue/to kill
off the microbes. (1+1+1)
It remembers the microbes specifically next time and responds against it.
b) Sexual contact with infected person, blood transfusion with infected person (1+1)
Infected mother to child

Q22. (a)Reflection is a phenomenon of reversion of a wave going from one medium to the same medium after
striking the second medium.
(b)Two well polished metal tubes inclined at same angles reflect sound clearly.
(c) angle I = angle r, and same plane condition. (1+3+1)

Q23. 1.Making proper toilets. Community led and people centred initiatives to be encouraged.
It will help in sustaining these sanitary complexes. (5)
2. Creating awareness among the people about the usage of toilets and keeping them clean.
Providing health education so that diseases do not spread.
3. Proper disposal of sewage waste by hygienic method
As given in the case study, in Mizoram, the implementation was done by community
sanitary complexes maintained by a person who had been given a shop in return for a commitment to operate
and maintain the CSC which is one side of this complex. The shopkeeper takes care of the electricity and water
bills of the CSC.

Q24. a. The innovative approach to convert waste to wealth was carried out by the construction of a biogas
plant in any locality. The waste which would have been dumped in the wrong places will be dumped into the
biogas plant. The biogas which is produced can be used for cooking and lighting purposes. It also provides
manure for the fields. (3+2)
b. The ponds are deepened by excavating the mud and this was used to increase the height of the pond.
A recharge channel has been deepened and diverted to the ponds.
A recharge bore has also been developed so that water easily percolates into the aquifer.
