1.0 General construction.

1.1 Applicable standards.

The equipment must comply with the following requirements, arranged in order of priority:

 The requirements specified in this document and the technical specification (TS).
 Recommendations of official Standards or Directives according to the listed in TS part 2.0.

1.2 Construction form.

Core type oil-immersed transformer, either of the oil conservator or hermetically sealed type, according
to TS part 4.0.

The transformer must be of type tested design and manufactured accordingly to ensure safe and
continuous operation.

Totally enclosed as bolted or welded steel plate covered transformer tank, with integrated cooling
radiators.
Transformer tank must be oil leakage tested, e.g. by over pressure or vacuum test. Transformer tank
must be reinforced for lifting and handling.

To be designed for outdoor erection.

Double wound oil immersed cupper (Cu) or aluminum (Al) windings. Winding material according to TS
part 4.0.

HV- & LV-bushings of porcelain or silicone type according to TS part 4.0.

All electrical separated metal parts must be equipotential bonded by flexible braided Cu-straps.
All metallic surfaces must be surface treated (cleaned for dust, corrosion, oil, etc.) as preparation for
painting.
Surface must be painted as fully corrosion resistant for life span at outdoor erection.

1.3 Bushing enclosure.

Bushing enclosure according to TS part 4.0.

1.4 Method of cooling

ONAN (Oil Natural Air Natural).

1.5 Insulation class & temperature rise.

Insulation Class A.
Permissible temperature rise for windings & oil according to TS part 4.0

2.0 Design requirements.

2.1 Construction basics.

The individual transformer must be equipped with:

 Off-circuit tap changer in HV-windings, for manual operation. The transformer must be capable of
operation at its rated power in all tap positions.
 Tap changer must be with position indicator and lockable in all positions.
 Bi-directional metal wheels for placement on rails.
 Lifting lugs for the active part.
 Lifting lugs for complete transformer.
 Towing lugs.
 Insulation oil, filled up at sub supplier workshop.
 1 pressure relief valve.
 1 valve for oil draining and external filtering with top filter press connection.
 1 sampling valve located on the drain valve with top filter press connection.
 Separate spare pocket for top oil thermometer.
 Separate metal terminal box for auxiliary equipment (alarm/protection).
 Corrosion proof metal type rating- and main terminal marking plates.
 Additional design requirements please refer to TS part 5.0.

2.2 Termination.
Primary bushings must be prepared for cable termination.
Secondary bushings must be prepared for either cable or bus duct termination. Secondary bushing
termination form is specified in the TS part 6.0.
For main cable termination the number of terminations and cable cross-sections are specified in the TS
part 6.0 & 7.0.
Each secondary bushing must be with solid flat termination bar (of e.g. cupper, brass or bronze).
Termination bars must be pre-drilled suitable for connection of the amount of phase conductors specified
in TS part 7.0 or the flex-part of a bus duct connection.

Bolts, nuts and washers for termination must be included in all termination points.
Grounding terminals, clearly marked, must be present as minimum in form of one outside on transformer
frame and one inside each terminal box.
Auxiliary contacts (e.g. for alarm and trip) must be wired to a separate auxiliary terminal box integrated
on transformer tank.
Auxiliary terminal box according to TS part 4.0.
Terminals must be marked according to sub supplier interface drawings.

3.0 Various complementary requirements.

3.1 Name plate.

Name plate text according to TAG-code number specified in TS part 7.0. To be mounted at visible height
on transformer tank side. Name plate must be white with approximately 20 mm black figures and letters
unless otherwise specified in TS. To be fastened with screws, rivets or similar, glue is not accepted.

3.2 Insulation liquid.

Liquid must preferably be of mineral oil type, however synthetic oil type when supplier design requires so
due to low environment temperatures.

3.3 Erection equipment.

All special tools and accessories required for transformer erection and maintenance (e.g. bolts, nuts,
washers & grease), must be included as parts in the amount needed.

3.4 Factory Acceptance Test (FAT).

Unless otherwise agreed FAT must be witnessed by FLS and the end user if they do so require, without
extra cost.
FAT must, unless otherwise specified in TS, be a routine test and as minimum include the individual tests
specified in test procedure document.

3.5 Documentation.
FLSmidth must receive documentation in 2 stages split up as "design documentation" in the engineering
phase and "final vendor documentation".
The structure and content in the documentation must be agreed between vendor and FLSmidth.
