Step 1: Get the 2015/10 Dance Evolution rip

There are a lot of rips floating around taken at various points in the game’s life, but this
guide is going to focus on the 2015/10 rip since it is what this was tested with.

Some things to note:

● Dance Evolution has trouble running on mobile chipsets; it’s already confirmed to not
work on Nvidia 600m series chipsets, and has a good chance of failing on other mobile
chipsets as well.
● The game will not start without a Kinect plugged in and properly configured. No, you will
not be able to see if the game runs first before you get a Kinect.
○ It only works with a Xbox 360 Kinect or a Kinect for Windows; the Xbox One
Kinect or its Windows variant will not work.
○ If you can, set up the Kinect above eye height and tilt it downwards; the game
was programmed with the idea that it would be looking down on you at an angle.
This isn’t required, but it does produce slightly better results.

Step 2: Configure the rip to run properly

1. Download and install these files to configure your Kinect:

● http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36998 (Kinect developer
tools)
● http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36996 (Kinect SDK)

2. Download this specific DirectX SDK:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6812
a. More likely than not, this installation will fail because Visual C++ 2010
Redistributable Package version 10.0.40219 (Service Pack 1) is installed. You
can remove this with the following commands in a command prompt running as
administrator:
MsiExec.exe /passive /X{F0C3E5D1-1ADE-321E-8167-68EF0DE699A5}
MsiExec.exe /passive /X{1D8E6291-B0D5-35EC-8441-6616F567A0F7}
b. You should now be able to install the DirectX SDK as normal
c. Once you are done, you will need to reinstall both the x64 and x86 versions of
the Visual C++ redistributable from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en- us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=26999
3. Launch Kinect Developer Toolkit and run Kinect Explorer-D2D under the Tools tab.
a. You should see a color and depth feed of your camera and the ability to adjust
the tilt angle of the Kinect. Make sure you can fit entirely in frame and that the
Kinect can read your skeleton well.

Step 3: Configure for Ainsun

● Navigate to ~/contents/prop/
● Open ea3-config.xml and find the field for <pcbid>. Replace the number in that field
with a PCBID you have registered on Ainsun. If you don’t already have a PCBID created,
you can go here to generate one.

● Find the <services> block and replace the text there with the Ainsun server address

<network>
<sz_xrpc_buf __type="u32">102400</sz_xrpc_buf>
<ssl __type="bool">0</ssl>
<services>http://ainsun.fun:50000</services>
<url_slash __type="bool">1</url_slash>
</network>

● Extract the bemanitools-dea.zip that came with the rip to the main directory. When
asked, overwrite any previously existing files.
● Open “config.bat” from the main directory to configure your numpad and Card ID
○ Do not configure any other buttons; they are hardcoded as follows:

Keyboard Game Button

F11 Test

F12 Service

Left Arrow Left Arrow

Right Arrow Right Arrow

Enter P1 Start

Shift P2 Start

NumPad + Card ID Scan

● Finally, run “gamestart.bat” as administrator. This should take you through the bootup
until it fails at the clock check. Hit F11 to set the clock, and press F12 until it is
confirmed.
● You’ll want to configure the game to run in freeplay mode; Use F12 to navigate the menu
until you reach Game Options, where you can set the first option to Free Play. Save and
Exit.
● You can now go into Game Mode and start playing. Make sure you press the NumPad +
button so you can log in and save your progress.
