2 Sample T-Test (Independent)

H0 – There is no significant difference between male and female in reference to their

perception of the taste of canteen food.

H1 - There is significant difference between male and female in reference to their

perception of the taste of canteen food.

The 2 variables are:

1) Gender (Nominal/Categorical Variable)

2) Perception of taste of canteen food (Scale Variable)

Steps to be followed:
In the Variable View window,
Gender – Nominal & Perception of taste of canteen food – Scale
Gender Value, 1 - Male
2 - Female
In the Date View window,
Put the data for Gender & perception of taste of canteen food > Analyze > Compare Means
> Independent Sample T test > Perception of taste of canteen food – Test Variable > Gender
– Grouping Variables > Define Groups – Group 1 is 1 & Group 2 is 2 > Continue > Options >
Confidence Level – 95% > OK

Output:
Mean of Males (Perception of taste of canteen food) – 3.28
Mean of Females ((Perception of taste of canteen food) – 3.34

P value – .897
Alpha – 0.05

Since the p value (.897) > Alpha (0.05)

Therefore, it falls under Equal Variance Assumed. (Taking the 1st value of Sig (2 – tailed)

Comparing Sig (2 Tailed) = .921 with Alpha (0.05)

Since, Sig (2 Tailed) = .921 > 0.05
Therefore, we accept the null hypothesis.

Conclusion
There is no significant difference between male and female in reference to their perception
of the taste of canteen food.
