Reflect on and summarise your progress against the professional learning goals you identified
against the Graduate Standards (Professional Knowledge, Professional Practice and Professional
Engagement) in Activity 1 of the Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA) and identify your goals
for the remainder of your placement. Discuss this with your mentor teacher and University Liaison

Professional Knowledge

1. Know the Students and how they learn.

I feel quite confident in my progress against standards 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5. Working alongside the students and
developing relationships with them provides me with a good understanding of how they learn, their abilities,
weaknesses and challenges.

Goal
An area I have identified that I could improve in is standard 1.6: Using strategies to support full participation of students
with disabilities. I aim to approach this learning goal by organising and spending a day in the special Ed unit. By observing
and working alongside teachers and students my hope is to develop a deeper understanding of how they learn and
strategies to help support their learning. I will also attend a PD day for one child, one plan about creating individual
learning plans using the one child, one plan program.
Standard 1.5. A goal in my teaching practice it to develop my explicit teaching to help differentiate the tasks and learning
through instruction to meet their various learning needs.

2. Know the content and how to teach it

Throughout my previous and current placement, I have been able to continue implementing various strategies teaching
in a diverse classroom including critical/creative thinking and inquiry learning. On my current placement I have been able
to understand and see that students work at and learn at various paces and through different modes.

Goal
My goal for this standard is to develop my assessment and reporting ability (2.3). I aim to achieve this by working
alongside my mentor learning effective assessment strategies, as well as contributing to student reports. One way I will
aim to achieve this is by highlighting content goals and learning intentions for students to identify where their learning is
going. (5.1, 5.2)

Professional Practice

3. Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning

By effectively differentiating lessons I believe I am able to successfully provide students achievable learning goals
dependent on their readiness levels. I utilise various strategies when teaching and carefully select resources based on
their interests and readiness levels.
Goal
I have identified standard 3.6 as a potential learning area. Part of my English Curriculum Studies topic I have developed
a research action plan for implementing effective feedback to help develop student self-efficacy. During my placement I
will be collecting evidence on a small group on the effects of effective feedback and through reflection I will aim to
improve its implementation.
Standard, 3.7. My aim is to help write a summary of Blue 5s learning for the newsletter and perhaps post a summary on
class dojo to include parents in the learning process. (7.3)

4. Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments

I am quite confident in this AITSL standard and its sub standards. One approach I use with challenging behaviours is an 'l
see you approach', acknowledging their emotions and how they feel, identifying triggers and working collaboratively to
develop strategies to help them cope in the future.

Goal
(4.3, 4.4)
Continue developing relationships with students to help them feel supported and understood as individuals.
Through explicit instructions and sequencing tasks I hope to improve classroom activities and learning. (4.2)

5. Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning

engage
During lessons I aim to provide individual feedback in regards to the students' progress orientating skills and
the
them in strategic questioning to help guide them with their work, in order to understand their thinking behind
learning.

Goal
for tasks
I have had a little experience with diagnostic assessment and interpreting the data to help create ability groups
my teaching practice by
and make comparable judgments of the student's progress. I aim to improve this area of
planning for and implementing pre/post assessments to identify progress in student learning (5.1, 5.5).

Professional Engagement

6. Engage in professional learning

attended KS: CPC training
I frequently seek feedback from my mentor, other staff and peers. During the school holidays I
TPA activity 1
to help continue my learning and understanding of the child protection curriculum (6.2). This plan and
addresses standards 6.1 as well as attending a PD on one child, one plan.

Goal:
have and make action plans
My action plan for this standard is to go through each standard and highlight evidence that I
weaknesses, implement actions to
to gain evidence for the ones that I don't. Part of this goal is to highlight areas of
improve and collect evidence for my e-portfolio (6.1)

7. Engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers and the community.

I understand legislative and ethical requirements as a teacher and am confident in where to locate them if needed (7.1,
7.2)

Goal
certain situations, as well as any
My goal is to address standard 7.3. Find out what leaderships role is with assisting in
protocol of school policy that needs to be followed.
