In tune with “Make in India” theme and greater emphasis on “Creating Manufacturing
Hubs in India”, IETE Bangalore is offering a Short Term Course under its Continuing
Education Program on Mechanical Design of Electronic Products to assist the Industries
designing and manufacturing Electronic Products and Engineers building them. The course
proposes to impart skills essential in designing and manufacturing a complete Electronic
System / Product in complete entirety with emphasis on the mechanical and thermal design.

The role of electronics in modern life and workplace is well known. Most eng ineered
products have electronics either as an element or they need to interact with electronic products
in order to perform. Typically, the task of designing and engineering of electronic products is not
taught in a formal manner as part of the engineering curriculum. Further, electronic system
development needs engineering inputs from all disciplines.

Engineers are involved in a number of design and development activities. Mechanical

Electronic Systems Engineering is a blend of mechanical engineering, electronic engineering,
computer-aided engineering control engineering and systems design engineering in order to
design and manufacture useful products.

The pace of technological innovation has significantly weakened the boundaries between
the traditional engineering disciplines, with employers ex pecting engineers to function over a
wide range of possible solutions to an engineering task. This Mechanical Design of Electronic
Products course will enable the engineers and students to work in such a challenging
environment and be able to adapt and change as circumstances dictate.

This course provides a foundation on mechanical, electrical and electronic systems as well
as an understanding of the fundamental mechanical principles used in the design of electronic
devices, packages, boards, sub -systems, and systems with focus on their integration. Program
Schedule and Topics Covered are indicated.
