“THE EFFECTS OF ATTITUDE TOWARDS THE PERFORMANCE OF

IMMERSION STUDENTS IN MARIGONDON NATIONAL HIGH

SCHOOL.

Chapter 1

Introduction

Attitude is very important, it is where we can see the behavior of a

person whether it is good or bad in which it identifies our identity and our

character. Attitude is really important not just in our homes, but also in

outside, because attitude is based on how good you are and act to

others. Even when you work in the companies, communities, politics, or

industries people will not just see of well or good you are but also on how

the way you act towards others or also called social interaction. However,

some people also acts not accordingly to their will, they just act for the

sake of others and one’s people motives. With this kind of instances,

people evolves criticism, judgement, and bullying. And with this situation

it might lead into a crime. According to John C. Maxwell “People may

hear your words, but they feel your attitude.” For this matter we

researchers want to know on how the Grade 12 students acts during their

immersion based on their performances because in getting job it is not

about Gender, Education or Status, it is about character and attitude.

This study aimed to determine the effects of the attitude towards

the performance of the student’s during 2018 – 2019.

the students ?

2.Does the work performance is effective?

3.What will be the desirable attitude of the students towards the work?

Review of Related Literature

According to kobella (1989) the term attitude encompasses a wide

range affective behaviors. She explained that attitude is a condition of

readiness to a certain activity. Attitude of an inviduals may be simple or

complex, atable or unstable, temporary and permanent . Hayes (1995)

described, “ attitudeaffect the way in which we perceived the world

around us”. Anastasi (1969) defined attitude as a tendency to react

favourably or unfavourably toward a designated class stimuli. Attitude

cannot be directly observed, but must be inferred from overt behavior.

Rosenberg and hovland (1960) said that attitude are typically defined as

predisposition to responding a particular way towards a specified class.

So attitude is about the behavior of a person on how she think, act and

show his/her own attitude.

Holt and Frances Goodwin (1981) conducted a study on the

relationship of need fulfillment to job attitudes of faculty in higher

education. The result indicated that a strong positive correlation existed

between need fulfillment and job satisfaction. Academic discipline

significantly affected only one dimension of need fulfillment esteem.

Faculty in the natural sciences and mathematics showed lower scores

than faculty in the humanities, social sciences and professional and

applied field. The expected effects of age, length of teaching experience,

level of education, pay. Harris and Dorothy Jean (1983) further

explained the studied the college faculty attitudes towards teaching students in

remedial / Developmental education programme. The study revealed that a

majority of faculty members exhibited favourable attitudes towards teaching

remedial students. Selected and rank on need fulfillment were not found to

influence teacher attitudes, but failed to show statistical significance at the 0.05

level. The null hypotheses were accepted for these independent variables: age,

professional specialisation, rank and tenure and professional assignment. The

hypothesis that attitudes differed according to sex, length of teaching

experience and training in remediation were not statistically significant and were

rejected at the 0.05 level of confidence.
