2 CONFIGURATION EXPLANATION

2.1 RCBU (BUSN) Configuration

RCBU includes AIU, BIU, TCU and PCU units. One RCBU can maximally support 1024 TRX,
208 E1 in Abis(Provides E1 or FE interface as IP Abis supported, and support 104 E1 + 4
FE as 512 TRX accessed in E1 and FE respectively.) , and 224E1/4 STM-1/3STM-
1(backup mode), and realized by two BUSNs.
The detailed description of each unit is shown as below:

2.1.1 BIU Unit

BIU realize the function of Abis interface access, support TDM and IP access modes, and is
composed of DTB/BIPI, GUP and SPB boards.
1) TDM mode,
Each DTB provides 32 E1 interface as Abis over E1.
GUP packs and unpacks TRCU frames and PCU frames, transforms between TDM packets
and IP packets. Each GUP supports 342 TRX in TDM transmission method. Up to 3 boards
can be configured in each RCBU.
SPB processes LAPD links in Abis interface, in which related links are switched in UIM from
DTB to SPB, terminated and transformed into control-plane IP data. Each SPB processes
256 LAPD links, and provides 8 E1 interface. Up to 2 boards can be configured in each
RCBU.
Boards Configuration steps:
 Determine the kinds of interface boards according to the Abis bearing mode. The
number of E1 is NAbis as E1 over Abis; The number of TRX is NTRX-TDM in TDM
transmission
 Determination of the number of DTB(NDTB);
 NDTB = Ceiling ((NAbis - NSPB *8)/32,1);
 Notes: 8 E1 in SPB is considered primarily, then 32 E1 in DTB is considered. Up to
6 boards can be configured for each RCBU.
 NSDTB = Ceiling ( NAbis / 63, 1)
 NGUP = Ceilling ( NTRX-TDM / 342, 1)
2) IP over Ethernet mode:
Interface board adopts BIPI as Abis over FE, and BIPIs are configured as master-slave
mode. Considered that one RCBU supports 1024 TRX, the maximum Gb flow is 64M, then
the maximum service code flow does not exceed 1024*128K+64K=195M.
Boards configuration steps:
 whereas the number of TRX is NTRX-FE as Abis over IP;

ZTE Confidential Proprietary 11

ZXG10 iBSC Dimension Instruction

 Two BIPI can provide 1024 TRX.

 Notes: Each BIPI provides 4 FE
 Determination of the number of GUP(NGUP);
 NGUP = Ceiling ( NTRX-FE / 224, 1)
Notes: Each GUP provides 324 TRX processing capacities if FE interface is adopted
3) IP over E1 mode:
Boards configuration steps:
 whereas the number of TRX is NTRX-IP OVER E1 as Abis over IP over E1;
 The number of E1 is NAbis as E1 over Abis;
 NDTB = Ceiling ((N Abis )/32,1);
 NEIPI = Ceilling (NDTB /2 , 1);
 NGUP= Ceilling (NTRX-IP/224,1)

2.1.2 TC and AIU Unit

TC and AIU mainly includes TC resource, relay circuit resource and No.7 signaling
processing functions, which consist of DTB/SDTB, SPB and GUP boards.
DTB board provides 32 E1 interface, SPB board provides 16 E1 interface, and SDTB board
provides 1 STM-1 interface. No.7 MTP2 signaling of A interface is processed in SPB, which
maximally processes 256 64K signaling or 16 2M No.7 signaling, is configured with 2 boards
and the load is shared. GUP provides TC resource, and each GUP can process 840 voice
TC.
Boards configuration steps:
 NA-trunk, the number of A interface trunk, is calculated according to traffic model,
thereby NA, the number of E1 which the A interface need is calculated;
 SPB boards: 2 pieces;
 DTB boards:
 NDTB = Ceiling ((NA - 16 *2)/32,1);
 Notes: Each SPB provides 16 E1, and each DTB provides 32 E1. If STM-1 is
needed, DTB can be replaced by SDTB, and the capacity of one STM-1 is equal to
the capacity of 63 E1; The interface of STM-1 can choose 1+1 backup mode.
 GUP boards:
 NTCD= Ceiling (NA-trunk/840),1);
 Each GUP can process 840 voice TCH.
Notes: AIUs are deployed in two Resource Shelfs of RCBU respectively; TC and trunk
circuits are switched in the same layer and adopt semi-fixed connection. The number of TC
of each shelf is determined by the minimum between the number of TC GUP support and
the number of trunk the trunk boards provide. The trunk circuits and GUP are connected
semi-fixedly, that is, A interface circuits and TC Processor Unit are corresponding fixedly, so
the corresponding trunk circuits interface boards and GUP need to be deployed in the same
layer shelf.

and the wireless protocol throughput which one UPPB processes is 36Mbps, one pair of
SPB, VTCD can process 32Mbps Gb interface throughput, and one BIPI and two UPPB can
process 64Mbps throughput.
