 What is the purpose of conceptual framework?

-A conceptual framework is the researcher’s understanding of how the particular variables in the
study connect with each other. Thus, it identifies the variables required in the research
investigation. It is the researcher’s “map” in pursuing the investigation.

 In few sentences, can you tell us what your study is all about?

- This quantitative study focused on the student’s frequency of usage and perception on social
media as an educational tool. Through analysis of the data, this study attempted to identify the
students’ frequency of usage and level of perception which may be used as foundations for more
in-depth research. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate whether students are utilizing social
media tools as a means to aid in the student’s learning experience.

 What research instruments did you use?

-The researchers utilized the social media questionnaire created by Taras Berezowsky and Anis
Safiah. The questionnaire consists of ten questions that will assess the degree to which the
students perceived social media as an educational tool. The five possible responses for each
question were scored 1 to 5, with 1 indicated as little level of perception and 5 assigned as high
level of perception.

-In addition to that, social media survey was also used which was developed by Doralyn
Rossman, Justin Shanks, and Scott Young to produce demographic and usage data for a
community of social media users. It was also designed to help individuals understand social
media use and expectations better and to assess how often they use the nine social media sites.
The five possible responses, never, rarely, monthly, weekly, and daily were scored 1 to 5 with 1
as the little frequency of usage and 5 as the high frequency of usage.

 What Methods or Sampling Technique did you employ? Why did you choose this
method?

- The study utilized a quantitative research approach using a survey questionnaire. The
respondents were determined through a stratified random sampling since there will be only fifty
six (56) respondents from a total of five hundred five (505) senior high school students enrolled
from the different strands.
-The researchers chose this method because quantitative data has several advantages. One major
one is that the outcome of quantitative research is easy to measure and the results can be clearly
shown through objective data.
- Stratified random sampling is a method of sampling that involves the division of a population
into smaller groups known as strata. In stratified random sampling, or stratification, the strata are
formed based on members' shared attributes or characteristics.

 How did you gather your data?

- The researchers assured confidentiality of the respondent’s survey sheets. Initially, the
respondents accomplished the informed consent form and were asked to answer the
questionnaires and were allowed to ask questions and clarification regarding the study. After
answering, the questionnaire was collected by the researchers and was compiled for analysis and
interpretation.

 What treatment of data did you use? Why?

-To determine the frequency of usage and perceptions of the respondents on social media as an
educational tool, computation of means, overall means and standard deviations were used. As for
the qualitative descriptions, the five-point Likert scale model was used.

- In terms of sex, the parametric test which is T- test for Independent Samples because it is
categorical and has 2 groups. However, in terms of the strand, parametric test which is One-Way
ANOVA was used because it is categorical but has more than 2 groups.

 Based on your findings what areas will you suggest for future research?

- Similar studies on frequency of usage and level of perception on social media as an educational
tool can be conducted with the inclusion of other variables not mentioned in the study to widen
one’s understanding of the issue.
 Why is the issue that you have chosen worthy of your thesis?

-The topic that the researchers have chosen is worthy because no one can deny the effect of
technology on the different aspects of people’s lives. It is undeniable that one of these aspects is
education that has undergone different changes. This has also given rise to the increase in the
number of students related to the social media usage as an educational tool.

 Who will be interested in your research?

-People who will be most interested in this study are future researchers who would like to carry
on conducting studies relevant to the subject matter.
