INTRODUCTION

Business research is a field of practical study in which a company obtains data and
analyzes it in order to better manage the company. Business research can include financial data,
consumer feedback, product research and competitive analysis. Executives and managers who
use business research methods are able to better understand their company, the position it holds
in the market and how to improve that position.

Financial Data Financial data takes qualitative information--such as sales reports, revenues
and cost reports--to see what areas make money and what costs money. By reviewing data,
managers can find the products, staff and departments that are most efficient and determine
areas of unnecessary costs.

Consumer Feedback Understanding what the public says about the products and services a
company provides is essential to making sure the company is meeting consumer needs.
Customer feedback includes case studies, focus groups, customer surveys and questionnaires.

Product Research

Product research seeks to improve the product to meet the needs of consumers. This may
include technological advancements, improved customer service or access to the product
through a variety of distribution channels.

Competitive Analysis

Competitive analysis is when one company compares its products and services to those of
another company. This can be done to improve the product, create a niche or determine a more
attractive price point to lure customers.

Industry Data

Using research tools such as the information compiled by Dun & Bradstreet can help a
company to understand how the industry as a whole is doing. This can help executives make
decisions based on economic factors affecting their industry that are not limited to their own
products.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

The main objective of this study is to know about research process by analyzing
a project report

DATA COLLECTION

In order to achieve the objective, secondary data is used.

Secondary data:

The data is collected from the hard copy of a project report and internet

TOOLS USED FOR DATA ANALYSIS:

After organizing the data collected through internet, narrative analysis is used in
order to get in to a conclusion.

DATA ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION

Research process involves several steps for complete analysis of research

problem. These steps are required for identifying and analyzing important information about a
research topic. the steps of research process are described below.

Selecting the research topic

Defining research problem

Objective of research

Literature survey

Formulating research hypothesis

Selecting research design

Sample design

Collection of data

Execution of project

Analysis of data

Testing of hypothesis

Generalization and interpretation of data

Preparation of research report

1. Selecting the research topic

A research topic is the research question you are going to answer in your paper. The
process of finding a good research topic may seem difficult the first time. But we will provide
you with helpful tools that can help you along the way.

Here the topic is “work life balance of employees with refers to BIG BAZAAR

2. Defining research problem

A research problem is a definite or clear expression [statement] about an area of

concern, a condition to be improved upon, a difficulty to be eliminated, or a troubling question
that exists in scholarly literature, in theory, or within existing practice that points to a need for
meaningful understanding and deliberate investigation. A research problem does not state how
to do something, offer a vague or broad proposition, or present a value question.

The problem is to find the work life balance of employees with reference to BIG BAZAAR.

3. Objective of research

Objective referred as A specific result that a person or system aims to achieve within a time
frame and with available resources. In general, objectives are more specific and easier to
measure than goals. Objectives are basic tools that underlie all planning and strategic activities.

To study the work life balance of employees with reference to BIG BAZAAR.

4. Literature survey (review) &Formulating research hypothesis

A literature review is an evaluative report of information found in the literature related to your
selected area of study. The review should describe summaries, evaluate and clarify this literature.
It should give a theoretical base for the research and help you (the author) determine the nature
of your research.

1. sakthivel rania kamalanabhanb&selvarania(2011) work /life balance reflections on

employee satisfaction “. Serbian journal managent

The aim of research of sakthivel rania kamalanabhanb&selvarania(2011) to analyze the

relationship between employee satisfaction and work life. The construct used for this research
consist of career opportunity, recognition, payments, work tasks , benefits superior subordinate
relationship employee satisfaction.

6
2. Muhammadi Sabra nadeem (2009)”the impact of work life conflict on job satisfactions of
employees in Pakistan” international journal of business and management

The study of Muhammed sabra nadeem(2009) was aimed to explore the relationship between
work life conflicts and job satisfaction in pakisthan found that job satisfaction is significantly
negatively correlated with work to family interference and family to work interference.

And this is a theoretical review about work life it says that favorable work life result in to
positive consequences of these factors such as job involvement sense of competence ,job
satisfaction and job performance and productivity.

Work life balance: theories

Several theories explained by famous researchers are given in few paragraph which is followed
by the negative effect of work life conflicts such as

1. Reduced stress, absenteeism and health costs.

2. Improved staff morale and engagement
3. Improved customer satisfaction
4. Reduced cost
5. Improved recruitment, and reduced turnover
5. Selecting research design

Research design is the basic frame work, which provides guideline for the rest of the research
process. it is the map of blue print accordingly to which the research is to be conducted. the study
is descriptive in nature, and the study aims to know the work life balance of employees the data
were collected from the employee working in the BIG BAZAAR the sample size of the study is
100 and the sampling method used by the researcher is convenient sampling , the statistical tool
which used here is percentage analysis.

6. Sample design

Sampling method refers to the rules and procedures by which some elements of the
population are included in the sample. Some common sampling methods are simple random
sampling, Purposive sampling, stratified sampling, and cluster sampling. Purposive sampling
(judgmental/selective/subjective) method is used to collect data for the study. it is a type of
non probability sampling were it collect data from respondents who are conveniently available
to provide information.

7
7. Collection of data

Data collection is the process of gathering and measuring information on variables of interest,
in an established systematic fashion that enables one to answer stated research questions, test
hypotheses, and evaluate outcomes.

8. Generalization and interpretation of data

Generalization is an essential component of the wider scientific process. In an ideal world,

to test a hypothesis, you would sample an entire population. You would use every possible
variation of an independent variable. In the vast majority of cases, this is not feasible, so a
representative group is chosen to reflect the whole population.

After collecting and analyzing the data, the researcher has to accomplish the task of drawing
inferences followed by report writing. This has to be done very carefully, otherwise mi
conclusions may be drawn and the whole purpose of doing research may get vitiated. It is only
through interpretation that the researcher can expose relations and processes that underlie his
findings

8
FINDINGS

• Research involves a systematic process that focuses on being objective and gathering a
multitude of information for analysis so that the researcher can come to a conclusion.

• The process focuses on testing hunches or ideas in a park and recreation setting through
a systematic process. In this process, the study is documented in such a way that another
individual can conduct the same study again.

• The scientific research process is a multiple-step process where the steps are interlinked
with the other steps in the process. If changes are made in one step of the process, the
researcher must review all the other steps to ensure that the changes are reflected
throughout the process.

SUGGESTIONS

1. The length of the report should be kept keeping in view the fact that it should cover the
subject in length but it should be short enough to maintain the interest of readers.

2. The report should not be dull. It should be such as to sustain one’s interest.

3. The report should possess the features of simplicity and avoiding vagueness.

4. Logical analysis should be the very basis of preparing a research report.

CONCLUSION

The purpose of research is to inform action. Thus, your study should seek to contextualize its
findings within the larger body of research. Research must always be of high quality in order
to produce knowledge that is applicable outside of the research setting. Furthermore, the results
of your study may have implications for policy and future project implementation.

One problem that often plagues progress in global health is the slow translation of research into
practice. Often, a disconnect exists between those who conduct research and those who are
positioned to implement the research findings. The underlying problem is that “the production
of evidence is organized institutionally with highly centralized mechanisms, whereas the
application of that science is highly decentralized. This social distance prevails because
scientists are more oriented to the international audiences of other scientists for which they
publish than to the needs of practitioners, policy makers, or the local public.”
