Exercises for 3 Dimensional Data Base (IEC)

Purpose & Description

The purpose of this exercise is to introduce ETAP’s 3D database operation. The configuration and data
manager s should be used to create and modify the data. The configurations can also be directly edited
from the one-line diagram.

Setup
Open project “IEC_WrkShopEx_1” (system from “Creating One-Line Diagram” exercise).

Procedure

1. Create Configurations: The configurations can be created from the configuration manager.

Name Parameters Parameters*

Normal All PDs are closed.
Tie-Open Open Tie CB CB9 open
Co Gen Off Open Generator terminal CB CB3 open
Network 1 Down Disconnect Network 1 from sources CB4 and 6 open
*Note that the protective device names may not match, but the equivalent elements (as displayed above) should be selected.

Exercises for 3 Dimensional Data Base (IEC)

2. Create, Merge Revisions: The revisions can be created from the data manager.

Revision Different from Base Revision

Revision1 T1: Z=5.5; Cable 2: Length = 150 m, Size = 185 Grp1
Revision2 T3: Z=5.5; Cable 1: Length = 170 m, Size = 185 Grp1
Revision3 Lump 3: 6.5 MVA; T1: Z=6.5; T3: Z=6.5;

a. Revision Merge - I
 Create Revision4
 Merge Revision 1 and Revision 2 to Revision 4.
 Check the difference between Revision 1 and 4.
b. Revision Merge - II
 Merge Revision 1 to Revision 3.
 Check T1 and T3 impedance. Are they same and why?
c. Change in Base Revision Data
 In Base Revision, change Cable1 and Cable 2: Length = 300 m, Size = 400.
 Run load flow calculation
 Check cable data in Revision 1 – 4. Are they same as Base and why?
 Check report
