“SUMMER CLASS”
April 23, 2019

On the 23rd day of April, 2019 at exactly 8 o’clock in the morning, eight Grade
9 students with English failed subject took the reading assessment. There are
16 students enrolled for the summer class but only 8 were present on that day.
During the start of the summer class, students were assessed with reading
evaluation process. In which, they’re given a passage/story, and they have to
read it, until they reach no errors in terms of reading. The teacher used 3
stories namely; The Origin of Witches, Stories of Heroes, The Hat. The stories
contain increasing level of vocabulary and reading comprehension. Students,
who failed the English subject, commonly have a hard time reading.

One student pronounced the word “FAMILY” as “FA-MI-LAY”. Others, also has
difficulty in pronouncing words and even sounding the words properly. The
teacher used her initiative to seat with the students who have difficulty in
reading. Up until, 12 o’clock in the morning, which serves as their activity for
the day if they finished each passage.

“SUMMER CLASS”
April 25, 2019

Last April 25, 2019, 8:30 in the morning was the third day of Summer
Class. Ms. Dullente prepared the Lesson on Adverbs. Since, all of the students
failed on the 4th Quarter of the school year. Only few students were present
during that time. After the discussion, the teacher let the students answer 3
activities in order for them to accomplish. After answering the 3 activities,
checking of answers comes in. Their scores were reflected in the score sheet
written by their English teacher so that, they will keep track on their scores.

It contains their quizzes, performance task, quarterly assessment and


attendance. The students got few scores, but the teacher let them answer
another activity so that they can comprehend what the discussion talks about.

“SUMMER CLASS”
April 29, 2019

On the 29th day of April, 2019, Ms. Dullente discussed about stage

directions, different kinds of stage, and Theatre Vocabulary wherein the first
performance task of students took place. After the discussion, students were
given a task to dramatize a short play. Wherein the following criteria like,
facial expression, gestures, emotions, pronunciation and diction were part of
the learning rubrics, in order for the teacher to rate them. 8 students were
divided into 4, so they have their buddy. The teacher gave the students 30
minutes to practice and create their own script. Afterwards, the teacher calls
their group one by one and let them perform. Some of the performance lacked
in facial expression and diction. Only one group got a perfect score out of the 3
groups remaining. After the performance the teacher taught them on the
proper emotions or facial expressions being delivered during any scene. Then,
a homework was given to them.

“SUMMER CLASS”
During the 8th day of May, 2019, students who were part of the summer class took their
summative exam for their English 9 class. Which consist of 50 questions. The teacher
conducts review for the students and also let them read their notes around 9 o’clock in the
morning.

After the review, the exam was given and gave them an hour to answer all the questions.
Subsequently, when they are all finished, they tried to correct their answers together with
their teacher. Only 1 out of 8 students passed the exam, so the teacher decided to conduct
a performance task which is also part of the Curriculum Guide for the 4 th Quarter of English
9, the Death of a Salesman role play for Scene 1. Ms. Dullente instructed the on how to
deliver the role play and she divided the class into two groups. Then, they let her practice
for 30 minutes. Afterwards, the students perform their drama and the teacher was well-
entertained because of the humor added by her students. Then, around 11:50 in the
morning. The teacher dismissed her class.
