Teacher’s Activity Students Activity
Daily Routine

 Prayer

Say: I’m requesting everyone to please stand.

Let us pray.
(The teacher will lead the prayer)

 Greetings

Say: Good morning class! Good morning Ma’am!

Say: Have you eaten your breakfast? Yes Ma’am!

Say: That’s great!

 Checking of Attendance

(The teacher will check students’ attendance)

Say: Today, we will have another lesson. I

have assigned you last meeting to have an
advance study about the topic “Drawing
Conclusion.” I hope that you have studied that
topic in advance so that you can easily
understand our lesson today.

 Review of Previous Lesson

A. Activity (Tell Me What You See)

Say: Before we proceed to our new lesson,

let’s first have an activity.

Directions:
 I am going to show you pictures and
what you are going to do is to discuss
what might be going on in the story.
 For example, a photograph of four
people reading a book could
initially be described as, "Four
people reading a book." The
inference is that the four people
are related and perhaps their facial
expressions reveal that they are
reading a funny book.
 You might draw conclusions about the
relationships of the people in the
pictures, the emotions that each
person in the picture feels, or the
setting in which the picture takes place.
 The teacher will ask students
higher level inference questions
that require them to think about the
information that is implicit rather
than explicit.

Say: Is that clear class?

Yes Ma’am!

*After 5 minutes*

Say: Who would like to volunteer to discuss

with the class the story he/she has seen in the
first picture through answering these
questions;
 What is the relationship of the people
in the picture?
 What are the emotions that each
person in the picture feels? *Student’s Answer*
 Where does the picture takes place?

Say: Very good! How about the second

picture? *Student’s Answer*

B. Analysis

Say: Class, did you enjoy our activity?

Yes Ma’am!
Say: Okay! What have you observed from our
activity? Yes? Ma’am, I have observed that it is possible for
us to tell a story out of a given picture.

Say: Very good observation! What else? Ma’am I learned that pictures/photos can truly
tell thousand words/stories.

Say: Thank you!

Say: Our lesson this afternoon class is about

Drawing Conclusion. But before we proceed to
our discussion, let’s read first our lesson
objectives.
At the end of 2 hours, the students
should be able to do the following tasks with
85% accuracy.

 Define the terms conclusion and

drawing conclusion.
 Draw conclusions out of the images.
 Identify the key point that justifies the
conclusion.
 Complete a story through writing a
concluding paragraph.

Say: I am requesting everyone to please read At the end of 2 hours, the students should be
our lesson objectives. able to do the following tasks with 85%
accuracy.

 Define the terms conclusion and

drawing conclusion.
 Draw conclusions out of the images.
 Identify the key point that justifies the
conclusion.
 Complete a story through writing a
concluding paragraph.

Say: This time, who can define drawing

conclusion based on the activity we have just Drawing conclusion means making judgement
done earlier? or guess based on presented facts or
evidences.

Say: That’s correct.

C. Abstraction

Conclusion is a judgment or decision

reached by reasoning. It is the opinion you
have after considering all
the information about what you saw or read.
When you come to a conclusion,
you decide that something is true after you
have thought about it carefully and have
considered all the relevant facts. One of the
known synonyms of conclusion is inference.
Inference is a belief or opinion that
you develop from the information that
you know. It is just a big word that means
a conclusion or judgement. It is an assumption
or conclusion that is rationally and logically
made, based on the given facts or
circumstances. An inference is based on facts,
so the reasoning for the conclusion is often
logical. If you infer that something has
happened, you do not see, hear, feel, smell,
or taste the actual event. But from what you
know, it makes sense to think that it has
happened.

Drawing conclusion is using

information that is implied or inferred to make
meaning out of what is not clearly stated. A
writer gives readers hints or clues that help
them read between the lines, since not
everything is explicitly stated or clearly
spelled out all the time. Drawing conclusion is
putting together factual information to arrive at
a certain truth. Hence, when you draw a
conclusion, you are making a judgment or an
opinion or a decision after considering all the
information read.

There are two things that must be

considered upon drawing conclusions. First
one is the schema or what you already know
about the situation and the second one is the
information given from the text.

Example:

“Maria has studied all week for her algebra

test. She spent three hours every night
working on the review exercises in her
textbook. Last night, she could not sleep very
well because she was afraid she would sleep
through her alarm.”
What conclusion can you draw from the
following passage? *Students’ Answer*

(The teacher will ask students’ ideas)

What’s the most logical conclusion? *Students’ Answer*

A. Maria will pass her test.

B. Maria is nervous about her algebra
test.
C. Maria gets nervous before big tests.
D. Maria enjoys taking tests.

Explanation:
A? not a conclusion but a prediction
B? logical conclusion—we know that she’s
nervous because of her actions.
C? not a conclusion, but a generalization—we
only know how she reacts to
algebra tests, not all tests
D? not a conclusion—passage says nothing
about Maria enjoying test.

(The teacher will give other examples)

Say: Do you have any question or clarification

regarding our lesson today? None Ma’am.

D. Application

Say: This time, we will have another activity.

This is called “Picture Analysis”

Procedures:
 The class will be divided into 8 groups.
 Each group will be given a picture, a
marker and a manila paper.

Say: Class, you are going to work as a team.

What you are going to do is to write down in
the manila paper everything that you can
conclude based on the picture given to you.

Say: You will be given 10 minutes to do the

task. You have to choose 1 representative to
present the output of your group.

Say: After 10 minutes, I am going to call on

each group’s representative to present their
work. Are my instructions clear? Yes Ma’am.

Group 1

Group 2

Group 3

Group 4

Group 5

Group 6

Group 7

Group 8

Say: Class, 10 minutes is over. Let us start our

presentation. Let’s begin with group 1 and so
on… (Group 1’s representative present their work)

Say: Well done class! Give yourselves a round

of applause!
Say: Kindly write the name of the members of
the group in a ¼ sheet of pad paper and pass
it to me.

VI. Evaluation (Individual Activity)

Say: Now, we are going to have another activity. Find a partner whom you are comfortable to
work with.
A. Directions: Analyze each situation below in order for you to come up with the correct
answer/conclusion.

“Now that you’ve built up your arm and leg strength, you are ready to go. Before
you begin, you need to remember that the sport requires more than a board and
water. First, you need a great deal of balance. The waves are always changing
and moving. The rider’s feet must be positioned and repositioned on the board to
avoid falling. Second, you need good vision. It is important to observe how your
wave is changing and make adjustments.”

 What was the topic of the previous passage?

a. Diving
b. Skiing
c. Surfing
d. Swimming

 Write down the clues in the passage that can justify your conclusion.

b. They were friendly dogs, but they barked a lot.
c. Two dogs were kept in the fenced yard of the red brick house.
d. Even though the dogs were locked in, she always walked on the other side of the street.

B. Directions: Read the two paragraphs below and decide what might happen next in
the story. Underline the words that give you clue about the ending, and
then write a paragraph concluding the story.

Jillian’s bedroom was a terrible mess. Her pillows, usually on top of her neatly made
bed, lay on the carpet in a heap. Jillian had taken every coat out of her closet, turned the
pockets inside out, and tossed them into a pile. Her shoes, which she kept tucked under her bed
in a neat row, were strewn all around the floor. She had dumped the contents of her backpack
inside out, too. The dresser drawers were open, clothes spilling out of each one. Exasperated,
Jillian plopped down on the rug and groaned.
Jillian’s mother appeared at her door, “What’s the matter,” she asked, “and why is it so
messy in here?”
“I can’t find my glasses anywhere,” Jillian complained. I’ve looked everywhere I can
possibly think of, and still, no luck. I’m all out of ideas. Mom, do you have any?”
