 Students have learnt about number lines
Learning Area: Maths  Students have been exposed to counting by 2s
 Students have been exposed to counting by 5s
Strand/Topic from the Australian Curriculum:  Students have been exposed to making addition
sentence from pictures
Represent and solve simple addition and subtraction problems
using a range of strategies including counting on, partitioning and
rearranging parts (ACMNA015)

 Count on 1 or 2 from a number rather than from a picture
 Write an addition equation from the number problem
 Participate in classroom discussions
Teacher’s Prior Preparation/Organization: Provision for students at educational risk:
 17 twinkle worksheets  Students at educational risk will be in a separate class
 17 copies of addition worksheets from an I know it book  However, students that are struggling will be assisted
 Origio books throughout the lesson
 Interactive whiteboard

 Start the lesson by projecting five-frame dot arrangement cards from static ware segment where they will

 Once finished get students to go back to their desks and get out their origio books Whiteboard markers
 Get the origio activity up on the interactive whiteboard
 Go through the step in with the students and then explain the step up and step
ahead 17 twinkle worksheets
 Get students to complete this individually
15min  Walk around and assist students if necessary 17 copies of addition
 If students finish early, hand out the twinkle worksheet and addition worksheets worksheets from an I
from ‘An I know it!’ book know it book
 Go around and mark students work, while assisting them

11min Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)


 Get all the students to sit on the mat and ensure all their equipment is packed away
 Open up zupel’s on origio
 Play different puzzles on level one until the bell goes

 Students need to pack everything away and have everything cleared off their desks

Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will these be judged?)
 Lesson objective one, two and three were met by students participating in the class
discussion, completing the activity and by participating in the game
 This will be checked off on a check list
