Broad band lab:

The Broadband Forum is a non-profit industry consortium dedicated to developing
broadband network specifications. Members include telecommunications networking and
service provider companies, broadband device and equipment vendors, consultants and
independent testing labs (ITLs). Service provider members are primarily wire-line service
providers (non-mobile) telephone companies.

The DSL Forum was founded in 1994 with about 200 member companies in different divisions
of the telecommunication and information technology sector. It is used as a platform for
companies that operate in the broadband market. Its initial main purpose was the establishment
of new standards around Digital Subscriber Line communication products such as provisioning.
This cooperation has brought different standardizations for ADSL, SHDSL, VDSL, ADSL2+
and VDSL2.

The group was established in 1994 as the ADSL Forum, but became the DSL Forum in 1999,
named after the digital subscriber line (DSL) family of technology.

FTTH : FIBER TO THE HOME3GGP Architecture:
The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) is a collaboration between groups of
telecommunications associations, known as the Organizational Partners. The initial scope of
3GPP was to make a globally applicable third-generation (3G) mobile phone system
specification based on evolved Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) specifications
within the scope of the International Mobile Telecommunications-2000 project of the
International Telecommunication Union.
GSM NETWORK STRUCTURE:

The Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) is a third generation

mobile cellular system for networks based on the GSM standard. Developed and maintained by
the 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project), UMTS is a component of the International
Telecommunications Union IMT-2000 standard set and compares with the CDMA2000 standard

set for networks based on the competing CDMA One technology. UMTS uses wideband code
division multiple access (W-CDMA) radio access technology to offer greater spectral efficiency
and bandwidth to mobile network operators.

UMTS specifies a complete network system, which includes the radio access network (UMTS
Terrestrial Radio Access Network, or UTRAN), the core network (Mobile Application Part, or
MAP) and the authentication of users via SIM (subscriber identity module) cards.

The technology described in UMTS is sometimes also referred to as Freedom of Mobile

Multimedia Access (FOMA) or 3GSM.

Our Experience of Industrial Visit

Visit seems to be very informative and gives good learning experience. After completing
the industrial visit, we have upgraded our knowledge at a very great level. It was a good learning
experience. In each & every lab, students got some or the other new ideas and new thinking
which was very necessary for Networking. Students have visited the entire service department.
They are using new technologies. All the staff members and students are extremely thankful to
honorable principal Dr.A.Srinivasula Reddy and officials at Training centre who grant the
permission for visiting their organization and guide the students.
