Use self-contained breathing apparatus.
6. Accidental release measures
6.1 Personal Precautions
Emergency response workers should use SCBA with Level B protection
6.2 Environmental precautions
Dike and contain spill with inert material (sand, earth, etc.). Keep the spill out
of all sewers and open bodies of water.
6.3 Methods for cleaning up
Dry material may be recovered and returned to original container for use.

7. Handling and storage

7.1 Handling
Avoid direct or prolonged contact with skin and eyes. Avoiding breathing dusts.
Do not ingest.
7.2 Storage
Store in original container. Keep in a dry, cool place. Keep out of reach of
children and domestic animals.

8. Exposure controls / Personal protection

8.1 Engineering measures to reduce exposure
When handlers used closed systems, enclosed cabs, or aircraft in a manner that
meets the requirements listed in the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) for
agricultureal pesticides, the handler PPE requirements may be reduced or
modified as specified in the WPS.
Where engineering controls are indicated by use conditions or a potential for
excessive exposure exist, the following traditional exposure control techniques
may be used to effectively minimize employee exposures: general area
dilution/exhaust ventilation.
8.2 Control parameters
8.3 Personal protective equipment
Eyes and face: wear goggles, face shield, or safety glasses.
Skin: applicators and other handles must wear long-sleeved shirt and long
pants, waterproof gloves, and chemical-resistant footware plus socks. See label for
additional precaution and user safety recommendations.
Respiratory: for handling activities, use dust/mist filtering respiratory
(MSHA/NIOSH approval numbers prefix TC-21C, or a NIOSH approved
respirator with a NPR or HE filter.

11. Toxicological Information

11.1 Acute toxicity: The oral LD50 for Acephate is 1030 mg/kg in male rats,
1127 mg/kg in female rats. The dermal LD50 in rabbit > 2 g/kg. The 4 hours
LC50 in rats >61.7 mg/l.
11.2 Local effects
11.3 Sensitization
Not a skin sensitizer (guinea pigs)
11.4 Chronic toxicity: Acephate, when administered by various routes, at
doses toxic to the maternal animals, has been shown to produce developmental
toxicity in a number of species. Acephate produces no teratogenic effect in the
absence of maternal toxicity.
11.5 Long terra toxicity
11.6 Specific effects:
11.7 Information according to the different exposure route
The oral LD50 for Acephate is 1030 mg/kg in male rats, 1127 mg/kg in
female rats.
The dermal LD50 in rabbit > 2 g/kg.
The 4 hours LC50 in rats >61.7 mg/l.

12. Ecological information

12.1 Mobility
Low mobility in soil excludes groundwater contamination through
leaching.
12.2 Persistence / Degradability
Acephate was found to degrade rapidly in natural water/sediment
system, to which aqueous photolysis greatly contributes for spring.
12.3 Bioaccumulation
12.4 Environmental impact / Ecotoxicity
