Aims of the lesson:


 To develop skill of reading/listening for general understanding
 To encourage the students’ enjoyment of reading
 To develop the skill of reading for essential information
 To develop their knowledge about the ”Titanic” movie
 To practise the information newly acquired

 Lesson stages:
 Activity 1: Warm up
Aim: Introduce students in the atmosphere of the English class.
Procedure: Teacher asks for the absents. The student on duty tells the
absents.Teacher checks students’ homework.

 Activity 2: Speaking
Aim: Develop speaking skills
Procedure: Teacher asks students what do they know about ”Titanic ”movie and
write questions asking what they would like to know.

 Activity 3:Extensive Reading


Aim: Develop reading skills for general understanding
Procedure: Teacher asks students to read the text loudly. Teacher tells students
not to worry about the unknown words. If they ask, teacher can give them a quick
translation and move on. In pairs, they take it in turns to answer the questions from
the first exercise from the same page.

 Activity 4 : Practice
Aim: Develop reading skills for specific information
Procedure: Teacher draws the chart on the blackboard. Teacher asks students to
have in mind the time in history , the main characters, and the main events as they
read the story again. Teacher encourages short , concise answers when students
have finished reading the story.

 Activity 5:Practice
Aim : Modal verbs-Should/shouldn ”t have + past participle
Procedure: Teacher introduces the language needed for expressing criticism
about a past action,and writes on the whiteboard two sentences and read them with
expressive intonation. In pairs students decide which sentences express criticism.
T gives students worksheets with modals to resolve them.

 Activity 6: Giving the homework


Aim: Worksheets
Procedure: Teacher gives students worksheets and ask them to resolve the o the
exercieses.
