Lesson Plan in English 3

Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, students must be able to:
a. Identify sentences that ask questions (interrogative sentences)
b. Use interrogative pronouns correctly
c. Write sentences using interrogative pronouns

I. Introduction – Kahoot!
Students identify if the sentence is an asking or telling sentence.

Sentences:
1. Boracay is opening again its doors to tourists soon.
2. Who is the first female chief of justice in the Philippines?
3. Where did you keep my camera?
4. I don’t know why she’s getting mad at me.
5. How do you know that the salesclerk is the culprit?
6. Many Filipinos are complaining about the MRT’s poor service.
7. Which of these two cellphones is more affordable?
8. What was the result of the test?
9. That hurts!
10. Take one tablet of Biogesic every six hours.

Guide Questions:
1. Does the sentence ask you a question/tell you information? (Answer: Yes/No)
2. What pronoun do the sentence use to ask questions? (Answer: who, where, how, which, what)
3. What do we call these pronouns? (Answer: Interrogative pronouns)
4. When do you think we use interrogative pronouns? (Answer: when we ask questions)

II. Presentation/Modeling

a. Read the story with the students.

Today, I was getting ready to go to the movie theatre. I thought to myself, “What is
playing at the movies this afternoon?” What I wanted to see was a comedy, and I was
glad to see that the movie which was playing was one of my favorites. When was the
movie? Three o’clock. What time did I get there? I actually arrived a half hour late,
which I was not very happy about. Who did I go with? My sister – who was running a bit
late. Whatever!

b. Comprehension questions:
1. Who was getting ready in the story? (Answer: The speaker/the narrator)
2. Where is the speaker going? (Answer: to the movie theatre)
3. What movie did the speaker want to see? (Answer: comedy)
4. When was the movie showing? (Answer: Three o’clock)
5. Why was the speaker late for the movie? (Answer: The speaker’s sister was late)
6. How did the speaker feel about being late? (Answer: The speaker was not happy about
it)

c. Questions for discussion


1. Let students identify the interrogative pronoun in each sentence. Then, ask:
a. Referring to Q#1, does it ask about an object or a person?
b. Referring to Q#2, does it ask about an object, place or a person?
c. Referring to Q#3, does it ask about an object, place or a person?
d. Referring to Q#4, does it ask about a time, object, place or a person?
e. Referring to Q#5, does it ask about people, objects, or reasons?
f. Referring to Q#6, does it ask about a reason or a manner?
2. Ask students to come up with their own sentences using interrogative pronouns.
