on Guest Talk organized by Management Studies Committee

on 25 January 2019

The Management Studies Committee, School of law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University)

organized a guest talk on the practical aspects of management concepts in the real world. The
application for the guest lecture was open to students of all departments of the University. The
lecture was held on 25th January, 2019 at room 105, Central Block CHRIST (Deemed to be
University) Main campus. The speaker for the lecture was Ms. Shabnam Harish who is presently
the CEO of M/s Nandana Health Care Services (India) Pvt Ltd.

Ms. Shabnam Harish graduated from Mount Carmel College in Bangalore and received her Post-
graduation degree from Christ Open University. Ma’am has worked with a few reputed
multinational corporations which include HSBC, City Bank and contributed towards the
development of Airtel during its early stages. Her talent, determination and hard work helped her
achieve significant heights in her career. She also got an opportunity to work with Juniper
Networks, which is a US based multinational networking company, where she was welcomed
with a senior management position. Today Ms. Shabnam Harish plays a pivotal role in the
management of M/s Nandana Health Care Services (India) Pvt Ltd.
In her lecture Ms. Shabnam enlightened the audience with the practical aspects of management,
and took the audience through a short journey of her experiences which helped us learn the
fundamental principles of managing any organization. In the present world where we usually
encounter the dilemma between being practical or being emotional, Ma’am was of the opinion
that there is a fine line of distinction between the two and that neither of them should overpower
or supersede the other. An equal balance has to be maintained between the two and that at the
end of the day we should never forget that an organization cannot run without funds and that it is
the very foundation of any organization. It is the extra step which a manager takes to win the
confidence, trust and faith of the fellow employees, customers and the society as a whole. On a
concluding note Ms. Shabnam emphasized on the point that an individual should be as subtle and
calm as water and slide into any situation put before them.

The session ended with a hearty thanks to Ms. Shabnam Harish for taking out time from her busy
schedule to educate the students about management lastly, she was presented with a memento by
Mr. Ruben Muthu, Associate Professor School of law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University).
