Foreword

This translation has been made based on the original Japanese Industrial
Standard revised by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry through
deliberations at the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee, as the result
of proposal for revision of Japanese Industrial Standard submitted by The
Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) with the draft being attached, based
on the provision of Article 12 Clause 1 of the Industrial Standardization Law
applicable t o the case of revision by the provision of Article 14.
Consequently JIS G 3454 : 1988 is replaced with this Standard.
This revision has been made based on I S 0 9330-1: 1990 Welded steel tubes
for pressure purposes-Technical delivery conditions-Part 1: Unalloyed steel
tubes wi t h specified room temperature properties and I S 0 9329-1: 1989
Seamless steel tubes for pressure purposes-Technical delivery conditions-
Part 1: Unalloyed steels with specified room temperature properties for the
purposes of making it easier t o compare this Standard with International
Standards; to prepare Japanese Industrial Standard conforming with
International Standards; and t o propose a draft of an International Standard
which is based on Japanese Industrial Standard.
Attention is drawn t o the possibility that some parts of this Standard may
conflict with a patent right, application for a patent after opening t o the
public, utility model right or application for registration of utility model
after opening t o the public which have technical properties. The relevant
Minister and the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee a r e not
responsible for identifying the patent right, application for a patent after
opening t o the public, utility model right or application for registration of
utility model after opening t o the public which have the said technical
properties.

livery conditions-Part l : Unalloyed steel tubes with specified room temperature prop-
erties published in 1990 and the first edition of I S 0 9329-1 Seamless steel tubes for
pressure purposes-Technical delivery conditions-Part 1: Unalloyed steels with specified

“pipes”) used for pressure service at an approximate maximum temperature of 350 O C .
The pipes for high pressure service shall be in accordance with JIS G 3455.
Remarks 1 Pertaining t o the electric-resistance welded steel tubes, when previ-
ously agreed upon with the manufacturer, the purchaser may desig-
nate a part of all of the supplementary quality requirements specified
