PREAMBLE:
The Port Elliot Primary School Governing Council works with the Principal to help set and
monitor the direction of the site.
Port Elliot Primary School staff value the parents, families and community members which
make up the local population. The governing council is an opportunity for the community to
share and influence some of the directions of the school. The staff are then also able to
communicate the directions of education and how the curriculum can be used to match the
wishes of the community.
An example of this is that Port Elliot Primary School has strong environmental focus in line with
the beliefs of many community members. This includes a focus on sustainability and waste
reduction.
Governing Council Meetings are the opportunity for parents and community members to share
opinions which represent the families of the students who attend the school.
Meetings are held two times a term for approximately one and half hours.
The council is always looking for new members at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) usually
held in February each year.
