Nature of the Project Web Application


Project Domain In this application for every project there is a
.mpp files where the data is being stored and
the data which is stored in the excel sheets will
be displayed in the web application with
proper progress of the project being shown in
the gantt charts or graphs.

Project Description:

The application refers to the collective hardware software and processes that
enable automation of the information processing and communication tasks in an
organization. It mainly involves in using systems which provide accurate
information can be stored, processed and routine tasks can be communicated and
processed to the higher authority.
It simplifies the work of human where the necessary tasks are being handled
manually either by storing the information in papers or in excel sheet which is
being hard to track the details and update them. The application helps in
performing or completing the advanced level of task in the organization. The
internet plays a major role which helps in sending and receiving the mails easily
and communication becomes easier.

The progress of the work is being displayed through gantt charts in a standard
format. The application provides the interface to view all the projects as per the
gantt charts provided. The complete project details are displayed and the roles &
responsibilities are assigned to the team members by which they can view through
a single click. The projects can be accessed through all the gantt charts provided.
The application also provides the list of employees and the details and the project
which are assigned to them. Storing of huge data files is being important which
needs to be accessed and shared among the employees using the application.

The users had to purchase a licensed .mpp (Microsoft project planner) files and .xls
file to maintain the details of the projects which contains high expenditure.

In this application for every project there is a .mpp files where the data is being
stored and the data which is stored in the excel sheets will be displayed in the web
application with proper progress of the project being shown in the gantt charts or
graphs.
Existing System

 No proper details on the progress of the project and the team members who
are working for the projects.
 Progress and status of the project is not represented using Gantt charts or
graphs.
 The project details are being stored manually either in the papers or
spreadsheet which is difficult in tracking the details.
 Manual process provides more errors and data inconsistencies in the
application.

Proposed System

 Multiple login access at a time for the users in the application is possible.
 The notifications are provided to the project directors, employees and the
admin can view the notifications which are sent and received.
 The progress / status of the application is represented with the help of gantt
charts or graphs which makes easy to track the project details.
 Both customised and standard reports can be generated based on dates, users
or the priority of the projects being completed.
 Automatic and Manual scheduling of the tasks and assigning of the projects
to the employees can be made.
 Database is reliable and can be optimized where all the confidential reports
and analytics are stored.
 Though there are multiple logins in the application it is limited to the users
of the application.
Modules:

Admin :

can view and manage the details of the projects which are handled in the
application and the status/ progress of the project can be viewed with the help of
Gantt charts.

Project Directors:

manage the employees and the project details based on the roles assigned to them
and the information of the projects is displayed in the gantt chart.

Employees:

will login to the application and the roles are being assigned to them based on the
projects given by the project directors. They can view the project details i.e., the
status of the projects where they get a clear picture by viewing the gantt chart
which are assigned to them.
