Amal Nabawy is a 50-year-old working woman who has worked for several companies

throughout her career that provide businesses with products that help enhance their quality and

growth within the market.

NABAWY: “I work for the British Standards Institution which is BSI. I'm a business
development manager for training and certification and actually we always go and see
the client and see if they need an ISO certification and what their needs are. And we
always receive the call actually to meet to us and have a meeting with us to present our
product.” (00:00:51)

Companies and businesses constantly have to provide products and services that are of high

quality in order to save cost and time, which ultimately improves customer relationships and

requirements. This is accomplished through I-S-O, International Organization for

Standardization which delivers international standards through certifications that cover almost

every industry worldwide.

NABAWY: “ISO standards is very important for most of the organizations either
Ministries or Governments or Private Sectors. It helps the organizations all over the
world to make excellence a habit. We always say that in BSI. And it also helps how to
improve performance, reduce risk, and achieve sustainable growth in the company. As
always, companies are looking for sustainable growth and to develop their business more
and more with the ISO standards to help the companies to do that.” (00:04:02)

The ISO 9000 certification series addresses various aspects of quality management and contains

some of ISO’s best-known standards. Meanwhile, the ISO 14000 certification family provides

companies and organizations with tools that manage their environmental duties.
NABAWY: “For ISO certifications, we have different certifications. There are different
ISO’s, like ISO 9001. It's a quality management system. ISO 14001, it's environmental
management system and each standard has their own requirements. The requirement for
the ISO 9001, we always say this is the concrete of any other standard. It's the base of
each other standard. We can build off of the ISO 9001.” (00:01:34)

Amal Nabawy had the privilege of working with different private sectors in the UAE when

delivering her expertise in ISO certifications.

NABAWY: “I worked with the government sector mainly. Those were all my clients. I
didn't work with private sectors in the Middle East. I worked with most of the ministries
like Ministry of Finance, Abu Dhabi Funds, Abu Dhabi Municipality, Abu Dhabi Food
Control Authority, and also ADNOC distribution which works with the oil and gas field.”

According to a study by Chatzoglou, Chatzoudes, & Kipraios (2015), ISO 9000 does in fact

generate benefits for a company as well as it’s stakeholders. Finally, Amal Nabawy’s prolonged

experience as a manager for BSI has proven that it is crucial for companies to attain ISO

certifications in order to be financially successful.
