Suggested material for the bag

Yarn Weight: Worsted / 10 ply (9 wpi)
e.g. Sugar 'n Cream Solids and Denim by Lily
Yardage: 120 yards (110 meters)
Unit weight: 70 grams (2.47 ounces)
Gauge (crochet tension): 13 SC – 14 rows = 4"(10 cm)
Fibers: 100% Cotton
Texture: 4 single plies, S-plied, non-mercerized

Colors:
Small amount of: Yellow 0073, Orange 1628, Red 00095, Hot Pink 01740, Black currant
1318, Mod Blue 18111, Hot green 1712
You will need half ball of White 0001 and 35 grams (half ball) of Sage green 0084
You will need about 190 grams of yarn totally.

Hook: I used a hook 4.5 mm (U.S. hook 7)

Other materials: common sewing threads and needle, 4 holes buttons average 33 mm –
1 piece, 4 buttons average 1.5 cm, small amount of toy filling

Size of finished bag: the size of finished bag depends on used material and your style of
crocheting. Please remember that, If you will use another material the size could be different
My bag's measurement: 10,2 inches/26 cm height; 11 inches/28 cm width

Instruction:
This bag consists of three parts: the front-side, backside and the bottom of the bag. Crochet
all parts separately and then crochet them together.

Note: I know, that it is common to make 3 CH as first DC at the beginning of the circle round.
In this case, you will make 2 CH as first DC. It will look nicer :-)

Front-side part of the bag: You will work in circle rounds. You will not turn the work after
each round.
Beginning: use yellow yarn and make 5 CH, join with 1 SlSt to form a ring
Round 1: continue with yellow yarn and make: 2 CH (count as first DC), 11 DC in the middle
of the ring (12 DC). Join first DC with 1 Slip stitch, end the work. Don't turn the work.
Round 2: use white yarn and make: 2 CH (count as first DC), 1 DC in very first stitch, [2 DC
in every stitch from previous round] repeat 11 times totally (24 DC). Join first DC with 1 Slip
stitch, end the work, don't turn the work.

Note: detail picture, of what I mean, when I write: 2 CH (count as first DC), 1 DC in very first
stitch

Round 3: use orange yarn and make: 2 CH (count as first DC), 1 DC in very first stitch, 1 DC
in next stitch, [2 DC in same stitch, 1 DC in next stitch] – repeat the group in brackets
11 times totally (36 DC). Join first DC with 1 Slip stitch, end the work. Don't turn the work.

Round 4: Use white yarn and make: 2 CH (count as first DC), 1 DC in very first stitch, 1 DC
in next 2 stitches, [2 DC in same stitch, 1 DC in next 2 stitches from previous round] - repeat
the group in brackets 11 times totally (48 DC). Join first DC with 1 Slip stitch, end the work.
Don't turn the work.

Round 5: Use red yarn and make: 2 CH (count as first DC), 1 DC in very first stitch, 1 DC in
next 3 stitches, [2 DC in same stitch, 1 DC in next 3 stitches from previous round] - repeat the
group in brackets 11 times totally (60 DC). Join first DC with 1 slip stitch, end the work. Don't
turn the work.

Round 6: Use white yarn and make: 2 CH (count as first DC), 1 DC in very first stitch, 1 DC in
next 4 stitches, [2 DC in same stitch, 1 DC in next 4 stitches from previous round] - repeat the
group in brackets 11 times totally (72 DC). Join first DC with 1 slip stitch, end the work. Don't
turn the work.

Round 7: use hot pink yarn and make: 2 CH (count as first DC), 1 DC in very first stitch, 1 DC
in next 5 stitches, [2 DC in same stitch, 1 DC in next 5 stitches from previous round] - repeat
the group in brackets 11 times totally (84 DC). Join first DC with 1 slip stitch, end the work.
Don't turn the work.

Round 8: use white yarn and make: 2 CH (count as first DC), 1 DC in very first stitch, 1 DC in
next 6 stitches, [2 DC in same stitch, 1 DC in next 6 stitches from previous round] - repeat the
group in brackets 11 times totally (96 DC). Join first DC with 1 slip stitch, end the work. Don't
turn the work.

Round 9: use violet yarn and make: 2 CH (count as first DC), 1 DC in very first stitch, 1 DC in
next 7 stitches, [2 DC in same stitch, 1 DC in next 7 stitches from previous round] - repeat the
group in brackets 11 times totally (108 DC). Join first DC with 1 slip stitch, end the work. Don't
turn the work.

Round 10: use white yarn and make: 1 SC in next 12 stitches, 1 HDC in next stitch, 1 DC in
next 5 stitches, [2 DC in same stitch, 1 DC in next 8 stitches] – repeat the group in brackets 5
times totally, then crochet 2 DC in next (same) stitch, 1 DC in next 5 stitches, 1 HDC in next
stitch, 1 SC in next 12 stitches (you will have 88 stitches); Don't turn the work.

There will left 26 stitches (in the middle) from previous round. You will not crochet in these
stitches.

Round 11: use mod blue yarn and make: insert hook in very first stitch (see the picture
bellow), 1 SC in next 12 stitches, 1 HDC in next stitch, 1 DC in next 6 stitches, [2 DC in same
stitch, 1 DC in next 9 stitches] – repeat the group in brackets 5 times totally, 2 DC in next
stitch, 1 DC in next 5 stitches, 1 HDC in next stitch, 1 SC in next 12 stitches (you will have 94
stitches); end the work. Don't turn the work.

Round 12: use white yarn and make: 1 SC in next 12 stitches, 1 HDC in next stitch, 1 DC in
next 68 stitches, 1 HDC in next stitch, 1 SC in next 12 stitches, end the work (94 stitches)

Backside of the bag:

You will crochet backside of the bag by same way as front-side.

Bottom of the bag:

Use green yarn, hook 4.5 mm
Row 1: make 7 CH, insert a hook in second stitch from the hook and crochet 1 SC in every
stitch from previous row (6 SC), 1 CH for turning the work, turn.
Row 2 - 94: 1 SC in every stitch from previous row (6 SC). 1 CH for turning the work, turn.
End the work after Row 94.
Crochet one row of SC around the longer sides of the bottom of the bag. You will make 94 SC
at both sides. Neaten free threads. Stretch out this part of the bag to sides a little bit, to next
work will go better :-)

Place the bottom and the front-side part of the bag with wrong sides to each other and crochet
them together using SlSt. Use hot green yarn. You will crochet on the right side, you will make
94 SlSt, then end the work.

Crochet backside and bottom part together same way as front-side. Use hot green yarn again.
Neaten free threads.

Upper edge of the bag:

Use hot pink yarn, work in the circle rounds.
Round 1: 1 SC in every stitch from previous round (80 SC), join first SC with 1 SlSt, don't
turn the work.
Round 2: 1 CH, 1 SlSt in every stitch from previous round (80 SlSt). Join first stitch with
1 SlSt and end the work. Neaten free threads.

Flap:
Use hot green yarn, hook 4.5 mm
Row 1: make 10 CH, insert a hook in second stitch from the hook and crochet 1 SC in every
stitch from previous row (9 SC), 1 CH for turning the work, turn
Row 2 - 12: 1 SC in every stitch from previous row (9 SC), 1 CH for turning the work, turn
Row 13: 1 SC in next 2 stitches, make 5 CH for button hole, skip 5 stitches, 1 SC in next 2
stitches (you will have 5 SC + button hole), 1 CH for turning the work, turn

Row 14: 1 SC in next 2 stitches, 5 SC in 5CH space from previous row, 1 SC in next
2 stitches, turn the work.

Row 15 - 16: 1 CH, 1 SC in every stitch from previous row, turn the work.
Row 17: you will make one circle round of SC around all rectangle: 1 CH, inc, 1 SC in next 15
stitches (on the side), inc, continue in circle direction, 1 SC in next 7 stitches, inc, continue in
circle direction again, 1 SC in next 15 stitches, inc, 1 SC in next 7 stitches, join first stitch with
1 SlSt, end the work. Neaten free threads.

Measure the middle of the bag and sew the flap invisibly and nicely on the backside of the bag
in the middle. Sew one big retro 4 holes button (average 3 cm) on front-side of the bag.

Big Flower
Middle part of the flower:
The middle part of the flower consists of two parts.
Front-side part: use white yarn and crochet continuously in spiral circle rounds – it means
that you will NOT join the rounds and don't turn the work after finished of every round.
Round 1: 2 CH, 7 SC in second stitch from hook (7 SC)
Round 2: inc in each stitch around (14 SC)
Round 3: 1 SC, inc – repeat 7 times totally (21 SC)
Round 4: 1 SC in next 2 stitches, inc – repeat 7 times totally (28 SC)
Round 5 – 9: 1 SC in every stitch from previous round. End the work after round 9.

Backside part: use white yarn and crochet continuously in spiral circle rounds – it means that
you will NOT join the rounds and don't turn the work after finished of every round.
Round 1: 2 CH, 7 SC in second stitch from hook (7 SC)
Round 2: inc in each stitch around (14 SC)
Round 3: 1 SC, inc – repeat 7 times totally (21 SC)
Round 4: 1 SC in next 2 stitches, inc – repeat 7 times totally (28 SC), end the work.

You have prepared two pieces of the middle part of the flower. Fill front-side part with toy
filling. Place both parts by wrong sides to each other and sew them together, as you see on the
picture below. Don't forget to sew the flower's string inside the middle part of the flower.

Flower's string:
Crochet one piece of flower's string.
Beginning: use hot green yarn and make 19 CH, end the work.
Row 1: use green yarn and crochet 1 SlSt in every stitch from previous row, end the work (19
SlSt)

Petals:
you will make 6 petals: yellow, orange, red, hot pink, violet, mod blue. You will crochet in
spiral circle rounds – it means, that you will not join the rounds with SlSt and don't turn the
work after finishing every round.
Round 1: 2 CH, 5 SC in second stitch from the hook (5 SC)
Round 2: inc in each stitch around (10 SC)
Round 3 – 6: 1 SC in every stitch from previous round. End the work after round 6.

Neaten free threads and sew the petals to the middle part of the flower. Use common sewing
thread and needle. You will not fill the petals with toy filling. They will stay empty. Sew the
button on the middle part of the flower.

Sew the flower's string on the bag. Then sew button on the top of the string.

Handle:
Important note: please remember, that the handle will stretch out because of the weight of
the bag. My measurement of the handles is about 100 cm (39 inches) long – when then bag is
wear on and without anything inside. So adjust the length of the handle up to your preference.

The handle consists of 3 parts.

Part 1:
You will make the string. Make three same strings, in different colors: orange, red, hot pink.
Beginning: 161 CH
Row 1: insert the hook in second stitch from the hook and crochet 1 SC in every stitch from
previous row, end the work (160 SC)
Row 2: 1 CH, 1 SlSt in every stitch from previous row (160 SlSt). End the work.

Part 2:
You will make two pieces of short strings – one in yellow and second one in green color.
Beginning: 21 CH
Row 1: insert the hook in second stitch from the hook and crochet 1 SlSt in every stitch from
previous row, end the work.
Row 2: 1 CH, 1 SlSt in every stitch from previous row (20 SlSt). End the work.

Part 3:
You will make two pieces rectangles – one in mod blue and second one in hot green color.
Row 1: make 6 CH, insert a hook in second stitch from the hook and crochet 1 SC in every
stitch from previous row (5 SC), 1 CH for turning the work, turn
Row 2 - 10: 1 SC in every stitch from previous row (5 SC), 1 CH for turning the work, turn
Round 11: you will make one circle round of SC around all rectangle: 1 CH, inc, 1 SC in next
8 stitches (on the side), inc, continue in circle direction, 1 SC in next 3 stitches, inc, continue
in circle direction again, 1 SC in next 8 stitches, inc, 1 SC in next 3 stitches, join first stitch
with 1 SlSt, end the work. Neaten free threads.

Put the rectangle to the half (make the square), place the strings inside the square as you see
on the picture below and sew the rectangles very firmly. Sew the button in the middle of the
square.

Sew the ends of short strings inside of the bag.
