ABSTRACT

Water is essential natural resource in sustaining life and

environment, most importantly in domestic use. But considering the

increase in population and living standard, water demand also

increases which may result to the inadequacy of water supply in a

certain area. One of the Barangay in Benguet that experiences water

shortage is Barangay Virac, Itogon. The study was only limited to ten

puroks and subdivided into two zones. Zone 1 is composed of Anonang,

Bangen, Bajating, Jungletown, Virac Riverside, Southern Cross,

and Skyview. Zone 2 is composed of Camangaan, Chosol, and

Jahppa. With the aid of engineering interventions applied in

this study, it can help address the water shortage problem in

the mentioned puroks of the Barangay. Ocular inspection and on-

site surveys were done to be able to investigate existing pipe

lines and determine the actual per capita demand of each

household. Further results of the survey were used in computing

projected population, maximum demand, total demand, etc. Based

form these data computed, the researchers designed a sustainable

water supply system with the aid of EPANET and Google Earth.

Pipe layouts, distribution system, and designed of tanks were

designed. Construction costs of the proposed design were also

considered.
