Introduction
This page lists all the known issues with Autopano and their solutions.
If a problem is not defined there, you are prompted to contact the Kolor Technical Support via the our support forum
(http://www.kolor.com/forum/).

TO AVOID ANY PROBLEMS, IF YOU HAVE INSTALLED A BETA VERSION OF THE SOFTWARE, UNINSTALL IT BEFORE
INSTALLING
THE FINAL RELEASE

Any Platform
Crash at the end of the detection or when opening the Panorama editor
Related symptoms:

Hang or crash on Color equalization stage during the detection

The panorama's display in the panorama editor is ugly
The panorama's display in the panorama editor becomes black
There is no panorama's display in the editor (or in the Panos part after the detection)
Crash occurs upon quitting Autopano

Cause:
The issue probably comes from the compatibility of your graphic card with Autopano.

Solution:
The first thing to do is to check the graphic card driver and to update it via the manufacturer website, then check Autopano’s behaviour
again .

If you own an integrated Intel graphic card, or any other dedicated graphic card, you should better use the proprietary driver instead of
using the generic Windows driver.

Integrated Intel graphic cards: https://downloadcenter.intel.com

AMD: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
NVIDIA: http://www.nvidia.com/content/global/global.php

Then (in case the issue still occurs), here are the tests to proceed:

Open Autopano
Open the following menu: Edit/Settings/... in General tab
There you will find a part called GPU processing
Click on the Test button of the main GPU option and tick the option Compatibility
Validate (OK)
Quit and restart Autopano
Try to stitch and process a panorama to check the behaviour of the software

http://www.kolor.com/wiki-en/action/view/Autopano_Documentation Page 6 of 14
Autopano Documentation - Autopano 9/24/18, 10*56 AM

If that still doesn’t work:

Open Autopano
Open the following menu: Edit/Settings/... in General tab
Unckeck the main GPU option
Validate (OK)
Quit and restart Autopano
Try to stitch and process a panorama to check the behaviour of the software
You can also try to uncheck Fast editor option, quit and restart to make a new test as described above.

Panorama's display in the panorama editor is ugly

The Panorama editor shows weird things (be careful: don't mix up bad stitching and weird things!).

Cause:
The issue probably comes from the compatibility of your graphic card with Autopano.

Solution:
Follow the same procedure to solve the following issue: Crash at the end of the detection or when opening the Panorama editor.

Panorama's display in the panorama editor becomes black

The Panorama editor shows an empty editing zone and/or the images become black.

Cause:
The issue probably comes from the compatibility of your graphic card with Autopano.

Solution:
Follow the same procedure to solve the following issue: Crash at the end of the detection or when opening the Panorama editor.

Panorama is not displayed in the editor (or in the Panos part after the detection)
The Panorama editor shows an empty editing zone and/or Panos part doesn't show any image thumbnail.

Cause:
The issue probably comes from the compatibility of your graphic card with Autopano.

Solution:
Follow the same procedure to solve the following issue: Crash at the end of the detection or when opening the Panorama editor.

Crash upon quitting Autopano

http://www.kolor.com/wiki-en/action/view/Autopano_Documentation Page 7 of 14
Autopano Documentation - Autopano 9/24/18, 10*56 AM

Autopano closes abnormally when you quit. You need to register your license every time you use the software.

Cause:
The issue probably comes from the compatibility of your graphic card with Autopano.

Solution:
Follow the same procedure to solve the following issue: Crash at the end of the detection or when opening the Panorama editor.

Crash during the rendering: Not enough memory

This message appears during the rendering (when Autopano calculate a big panorama with a limited system specs only). But that can
occur in other cases.

Solution:

Check if the version installed of the software is the 64 bits version then install the 64 bits version if your system allows it.
Modify the values (memory allocation and cache size) on the Memory used part of the Preferences (pixels quantity on one row,
number of pictures overlapped...).
It is important to check the Memory management page to understand better its use.

Freezing/hanging or crash when too many panoramas are created

The issue probably comes when too many panoramas are created (between 60 and 80 Panos) on the Panos part (right side part) of the
main interface.
That could generate a freezing/hanging, a bad displaying or no display at all then even a crash.

Solution :

Desactivate the GPU mode (see Crash at the end of the detection or when opening the Panorama editor).
Decreasing the quantity of Panos created to be less than 60 Panos opened.

Freezing/hanging or crash when rendering

The issue probably comes from the memory management If you have more than 32GB RAM

Solution :

Go to Preferences, General tab and limit the Memory used to 30GB using the slider or by entering the value directly. Restart
Autopano. No need to change Cache division value

Cannot click on any button or menu

http://www.kolor.com/wiki-en/action/view/Autopano_Documentation Page 8 of 14
Autopano Documentation - Autopano 9/24/18, 10*56 AM

You open Autopano and button or menu doesn't respond to click, only the on-over state is visible.
The problem appears when using a Wacom graphics tablet.
It is a QT or Wacom bug (for information such problem hits also Bibble).

Solution:

If you use the Wacom mouse in mouse mode => Does not work
If you use the Wacom pen in mouse mode => Does not work
If you use the Wacom pen in pen mode => OK
If you use an external mouse => OK

Where to find Preferences and Template files?

On both systems, theses files are hidden

Preferences file: on OSX, in the Finder, hold "alt" key, open "Go" menu, select "Library", "Preferences", then you can find a
".plist file" named "com.kolor.AutopanoProxx.plist" or "com.kolor.AutopanoGigaxx.plist"
Templates file: on OSX, in the Finder, hold "alt" key, open "Go" menu, select "Library", "Application Support", "Kolor",
"AutopanoProxx" or "AutopanoGigaxx", "User", "Templates"

Preferences file: on Windows, it is located in the registry, so you cannot copy it

(Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Kolor\Autopano Pro x.x or Autopano Pro x.x)
Templates file: on Windows, open a file browser and go to "C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Local\Autopano Pro x.x or Autopano
Giga x.x\User\Templates"

Windows
Crash when opening a file browser
Autopano closes when opening a file browser window (selection of images, saving a project, selection of the rendering folder, etc.).
The problem is due to a conflict between Autopano and a third party software installed on your computer.

Solution :

Open the Preferences settings, General tab

Uncheck the option Use system file browser (in the Theme part of the window)
Validate (OK)
Quit and restart Autopano

Installation error message

During the installation of any version of Autopano below 3.6, an error message pops up near the end.

http://www.kolor.com/wiki-en/action/view/Autopano_Documentation Page 9 of 14
Autopano Documentation - Autopano 9/24/18, 10*56 AM

You can leave it be, as it won't hinder the software's functionality in any way, or you can follow the following steps to make sure it
doesn't appear again in a future installation.

Solution :

Uninstall Autopano
Open the registry (Start menu > Run.. > Type "regedit" )
Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PropertySystem\PropertyHandlers\.pano
Click on .pano key. You cannot delete it because the key is owned by TrustedInstaller. So you have to change the owner to
Administrators first (following the instructions on this page (http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2808-take-ownership-file-
folder-drive-registry-key-windows-8-a.html)). If you did right, it will be possible to delete the .pano key
Close regedit
Reinstall Autopano

Crash when zooming in the panorama editor

Autopano opens the editor normally, but crashes when zooming in, after a certain point. It also crashes if you press "Ctrl+1". The
problem is due to an incompatibility with the latest (13.12+) AMD graphics card drivers.

Solution:

Make sure you have the latest version of Autopano Pro/Giga installed (3.6.3+).
Close Autopano Pro/Giga.
Open the registry (Start menu > Run.. > Type "regedit" ).
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Kolor\Autopano Pro/Giga 3.6\kernel.
Look for the gpuForceRGBA key, double-clic on the name and set the value to 1.
You can now relaunch Autopano.

Multiple GPUs
If you own an integrated Intel GPU and a nVidia card, you can select which GPU to use with Autopano (or any other application): on
Windows, do a right click on the desktop, select nVidia control panel, then select Autopano to be used with the nVidia GPU.

The plugin for Lightroom 4, 5, 6 & CC is not installed

During the installation of Autopano Giga, Lightroom Plugin is ticked but not installed or present in Lightroom:
Open a file browser, go to Local Disk (C:)/Users/user-name/AppData (this is a hidden folder)/Roaming/Adobe/Lightroom/Modules.
You may have a directory names AutopanoGigaxx.lrplugin that contains:

Preset
JPG.lrtemplate
TIFF16.lrtemplate
ExportServiceProvider.lus
info.lua
LightroomPlugin.exe
PluginDisable.lua
PluginEnable.lua
PluginInit.lua
TranslatedStrings_fr.txt

If you do not have that folder or missing files, you can download the plugin here (http://www.kolor.com/tmp/APG-
plugins/AutopanoGiga44.lrplugin.zip) and unzip the file to the directory shown above.
Also, be sure that the plugin is present in LR's modules manager and active.

Known issues
Application crashes/freeze/runs in background during startup on some Windows systems.
We are not able to reproduce this issue on our own Windows 10 configurations. So, we cannot offer any workaround or solution yet. In
general, remove pre-installed application provided by the manufacturer. Most of them are useless and create conflicts (Dell Backup and
recovery tool, MSI Nahimic, Sonic suite 2 provided with some Asus motherboards, etc)

Mac
Restore default settings
Here is how to completely restore the default settings:

1. Delete the preference files -

Close Autopano
Go to the Finder menu > Go
Open the Library
OSX 10.6 and below: the library is displayed and available directly on the menu
OSX 10.7 and above: the library is hidden, hold Alt key to display it on the menu
Go to the Preferences folder
Find and remove the files called com.kolor.autopano#**.plist
Empty the recycle bin
2. Delete the cached preference files - Certain MacOS versions cache their .plist files, which stops the settings from going back to
default. If your settings are not resetting, follow these steps:
Launch a command terminal (Applications > utilities > terminal or search for Terminal on your Mac (it should be the first
result)
Type or copy in this command (in bold): defaults delete "com.kolor.AutopanoGiga42" where 4.2 is the version of
Autopano Giga that you have installed

http://www.kolor.com/wiki-en/action/view/Autopano_Documentation Page 11 of 14
Autopano Documentation - Autopano 9/24/18, 10*56 AM

3. Check the original preference files haven't been restored by going back to your library, remove the remaining .plist files if they
were recreated.

The plugin for Lightroom 4, 5, 6 & CC is not installed
