ManagerX User’s
Guide

Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the USB Mass Storage Disk
(UMSD). This guide explains how to use the UMSD and the
Application Software bundled with your device.

Please read the safe precautions carefully before you


using the UMSD and the application software (the product).
Ensure that you use the product correctly according to the
procedures described in this guide.
The following safety precautions are intended to remind you
to operate the product safely and correctly. Please read and
ensure that you understand them before you proceed to the
other sections of this guide.

 Do not attempt to disassemble or alter any part of the
product that is not described in this guide.
 Do not allow the product to come into contact with water
or other liquids. In the event that water or other liquids enter

the interior, immediately unplug the product from the
computer. Continued use of the product may result in fire or
electrical shock. Please consult your product distributor or
the closest support center.
 Do not handle the product to do the plug and unplug
operation if your hands are wet. Otherwise it will cause
electrical shock.
 Do not place the product near a heat source or expose
them to direct flame or heat.
 Never place the product in close to equipment generating
strong electromagnetic fields. Exposure to strong magnetic
fields may cause malfunctions or corrupt data.

Guide to Components

The following system requirements must be met to


install and operate the UMSD and the application software.

 Computer Model IBM PC/AT Compatible, Power


Macintosh, PowerBook, iMAC or iBook

 OS
Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium
Edition (Windows ME), Windows 2000, Windows XP, Linux
2.4 or higher, Mac OS 9.0 or higher

 Interface USB

 Free Hard Disk Space 5 MB and more
 Windows 98 SE does not support default Mass
Storage Driver. You have to install the driver bundled with
the product.
 The product can use the default driver in most of
the OS. However, once you want to run the application
software bundled with the product. The “Setup.exe”
program will install vendor driver automatically. Then, the
application software will work properly.
 The application software only can run with
Microsoft Windows OS. The version for Macintosh is under
development right now. We will release it when available.
 However, the UMSD basic function could be
supported in all OS listed above.

Guide to Components

USB Interface: The interface connects to the USB port
of the computer.
Write-Protect Switch: If you put the switch in “ON” position,
the device will be in write protection mode. You can not write in
any data, you still can read the files or data in the device.
LED Display:
This LED Display will show the status of the device. Once the
device is in operation, the LED will be flush quickly.

Basic Functions

1. Plug and Play

When you plug the device into the USB port of your
computer, you will see a “Removable Disk” icon in the
file manager window.

2. Read and Write
You can do the read, write, copy, and delete operations with
the files and data as the same way with the files and data in
the hard disk.

3. Write-Protect Switch
When you put the write-protect switch to “ON” position, you
can not write any file or data into the device. You still can
view and read the files and data in the device. You can switch
the “Write-Protect” switch even you did not disconnect the
device. Due to Linux OS limitation, the write protect switch
will not work on-line.
4. Unplug
You can remove the device after you finished the action with
the device. However, in Windows ME and Windows 2000,

please follow the safe removal procedure. You can find a safe
removal icon in your computer’s notification area.

Double click the “safe removal” icon; the “Unplug or Eject


Hardware” window will be pop up. You can select the device
you want to remove. Then, click the “Stop” button. After that
you can unplug the device from the USB port of your
computer.

Warning
When you want to remove the UMSD, please make sure

the LED is not flush quickly. If the LED flush quickly, that
means there are some traffic on going between OS and
UMSD. Don’t remove the UMSD at this time. Otherwise, it
will cause some damages of the data or files even the
UMSD.

Warning
If you do not follow the safe removal procedure in
Windows ME and Windows 2000 system, it may cause data
lost due to the write cache issue.

In Macintosh machine, you can drag the removable disk icon


and put into the trash. This action will perform the “Eject”
function.

In Linux OS, please follow the “umount” command procedure


to un-mount the device.

ManagerX Installation

1. Execute the file of Setup.exe that you have.


2. Select your system language for installation.

3. Select components to install.

Manager is the basic install program, but manual is selectable.
The item 98Driver is just for the users using Win98 or Win
98SE.

4. If it is necessary to change the assigning folder to install the


ManagerX software, you can change the download folder as
you want.

5. If it is necessary to change the folder name of start menu,
you can change it.

6. After click the button of ‘Finish’, your installation will be

done, and ManagerX will be auto run.

Using ManagerX

After executing ManagerX, you can find below dialog


window.
(Open the program of start menu to find ManagerX, or you
can check the assigned folder- C:\Program Files\ManagerX-)

It displays information and status of USB-Disk, for example,
the written
and writable size and the status of write protect switch. And
also it pro- vides other attractive functions for using your
USB-Disk.

If USB-Disk is not connected, you can’t find the program


window of ManagerX.

Log in/Log out

Click the icon of ‘Login’ ( ) to open the login window.


Please input your password and click the button of ‘Login’,
then the security function will be cleared. Certainly you can
read or write your files in
disk arbitrarily at that time. You can also try to log in
PassmanX, but
it is unable to log out in PassmanX.

If you click the icon of ‘Log in’ ( ) again while it is in the
status of log in, you can log out
the window.
If your USB-Disk was not set to make Security
Disk, the icon of
‘Login’ will not reflect any actions.

Chang Password

In order to change password, click the “Change Password”


icon ( ) on the main window of “ManagerX”, and input

appropriate characters or/and numbers in each box
respectively.

Current It is the current password of security


Password disk.

New Password The password that you want to reset

Confirmed Re-inputting your new password

Hint Input any sentences for checking


your password
in case you forgot it.

“Change Password” to be available only in case USB-Disk


has set function of Security Disk.

Doing format disk is for initializing of the disk, making
partition disk, and making security disk with password
setting. Especially, it is consider-able to input your password
when you create security disk. PP2201 and PP2202 are a little
bit different. PP2201 does not support the function of
partition, so there is not bar control in format
window

The function of “Bootable Disk” is available in Windows98
system and supports “USB-ZIP” mode and/or “USB-HARD”
mode in BIOS set-up.
It depends on the system types, which supports by your BIOS
bootable with only one mode or both one.

USB- Select “USB-HARD” mode when you

Change Zone of Disk

Before you use ManagerX program, please make sure that PP2201
USB Disk is connected with your system. Follow the below
flows to set your zone of disk.

A. Click any format options of quick


format and full format in format menu. Green means ()
normal
disk and red () means security disk.

B. If you try to make security disk, please check the


box of ‘Make security disk’ and input your password and hint.

C. If you just want to use normal disk, do not follow item B.

D. Click the ‘Format’ button.


If you want to make booting disk, you have to select the
normal
disk.
PP2201

If you click the ‘Format’ button, then


following dialog window will be displayed. After
clicking ‘OK’ button, all of data will be
disappeared. Wish you back up your important data before
formatting.

Change Zone of Disk

Before you use ManagerX program, please make


sure that USB Disk is connected with your system.

Follow the below flows to set your zone of disk.


A. Move slide bar of disk to decide
available size of each disk.
Green means () normal disk and
red () means security disk.

B. If you want to make a booting disk, please select


one disk menu from two ‘Making booting disk
options’ in disk 1. You can select format

C. or full format to progress it.

C. Check the box of ‘Make security disk’


if you tried to divide y
our disk to make a security
disk.
D. Input password and hint.
E. Click ‘Format’ button.

If you click ‘Format’ button, the below dialog window will be

displayed. After clicking ‘OK’ button, all of data will be
disappeared. Wish you back up your important data before
formatting.

If you want to make booting disk, you have to select the

PP2202/PP2366
normal disk.

Make One Disk

If you want to use only one disk, it is possible to set as

ManagerX Customization

Language

ManagerX supports multi languages. Users can select


operation languages listed in the box of language list after
click language icon ( ) of ManagerX as they wish.

Skin

Click “Skin” icon on main window, you can find below


window.

Preference

Preference is additional function option to modify default


function of
ManagerX. You can click the right button of mouse on the
tray icon of “ManagerX” (at right bottom of the window).
You also can click the icon of ManagerX and click the right
button to find
the menu to select the item of ‘Preference’.

Always on top

It is an option for placing “ManagerX” on the top of windows


in order to use it quickly and easily.

Create Desktop Shortcut

It is an option for creating a shortcut icon of “ManagerX” on


the desktop window.

Auto run

It is an option for automatic execution of following files as

connection of the USB-Disk: “.exe”, “.HTML”, “.MP3”,
“.AVI”. It is same as auto run function of CD-ROM while put
it in CD-Rom drive.
The grammar of autorun.inf file with text format (ASCII) is as
follows:

ex) If you want to execute Notepad.exe, refer


below auto run file
setting.

notepad.exe file has to be copied into the path of USB


storage with Autorun.inf, otherwise it will not be executed.

Auto Start

It is an option for automatic start of “ManagerX” program.

Other Functions

Popup Message
Showing the status of connection or removal of the USB-
Disk as below popup window for 2~3 seconds.
(Auto popup & disappearing)

Using PassmanX

PassmanX is and program to be created automatically after


made
security disk. It can change or release password, and it also
release
security function in any PCs does not install ManagerX.

Change Password

If you want to change password of your security disk,


click the ‘Change Password’ button ( ) of PassmanX to
find below window displayed.
Changing flow is as follows:

A. Input current password.
B. Input new password and re-type in
the new password into the blank box
of ‘Change Password’.
C. Input your hint. It doesn’t matter
you don’t input it.
D. Click the button of ‘Change Password’ applying new
one.

Please do remember your password. Unless format


your ManagerX, it can’t be recovered when you forgot
your password.

Log in

It is a menu for reading and writing your data in security disk.
You also
can Log in from ManagerX. The flow is as follows:

C. If you can remember your password,
click the ‘Hint’ button ( ) to get your
hint for remembering your password.
