READING AND SPEAKING

E. Read Todd´s and Meg´s Weekdays Activities and have a conversation with your
classmate taking turns talking about their daily activities. What are their days like?
What do they do every day?

Todd and Meg have very busy week. Meg works every weekdays but her busiest day of
the week is Thursday. She has to work from early in the morning until around 6:00 p.m.
She gives classes. And then after that, she does her shopping at the supermarket. On
Sunday, she always goes to church in the morning, and sometimes she has lunch with
friends after church. And then, she usually cleans as well, Sunday evening before the new
week starts. During the week, if she has free time, sometimes she watches a TV show or
a movie and she also goes to Japanese language class, so sometimes she has Japanese
language homework some nights. Todd works Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, but he
does not work Wednesday, so he usually stays at home and relaxes. Sometimes, he goes
shopping. Sometimes, he goes to the park. Sometimes, he prepares lessons because he´s
a teacher but he never goes to school. It is his day off. Todd does all his boring activities
on Saturday: He does his shopping, his laundry. He runs errands. He cleans his apartment.
He does boring stuff because on Sunday, he likes to have fun. On Sunday, he often goes
hiking or goes to the park or goes to the beach. He goes to the beach almost every Sunday.
Mondays are busy for him too. Thursdays also are busy. Tuesday and Friday are not so
busy. Every Tuesday nights, he plays futsal with his friends for two hours and that's fun.
And then, sometimes on Friday, he meets his friends for dinner. And he also likes sports
so he usually watches sports on TV on Monday: He watches everything. He watches
baseball, basketball, American football and soccer.

– Don’t give up by Mario Benedetti

Don’t give up, you still have time And the wind goes silent,
to reach up and start anew, There is still fire in your soul
Accept your shadows, There is still life in your dreams.
Bury your fears,
Free your burdens, Because life is yours and yours is the
Fly again. desire
Because you have loved it and because I
Don’t give up, that’s what life is love you
Continue the journey, Because wine exists and love is true.
Follow your dreams, Because there are no wounds that time
Unstuck time, doesn’t cure.
Move the rubble,
And uncover the sky. To open the doors,
Take away the locks,
Don’t give up, please don’t give way, Abandon the walls that have protected
Even if the cold burns, you,
Even if fear bites, To live life and accept the challenge
Even if the sun sets, Get back laughter,
Practice a song,
Lower the guard and extend the hands And the wind goes silent,
Open the wings There is still fire in your soul
And try again, There is still life in your dreams.
Celebrate life and take back the skies.
Because every day is a new beginning,
Don’t give up, please don’t give way, Because this is the hour and the best
Even if the cold burns, moment.

school is not exactly the space where students can change their lives, and she is very sad about it. She
needs to do something to make her students learn and get involved in learning and she wants to
transform her students´ life stories.
Gina wants a better public school for her students; she decides to study more. Gina wants to change the
way she teaches. Gina believes the students are the authors of their learning process. She also thinks
that education has to be connected to real life. She believes that education exists to help people be
better citizens. Then she creates the Project Inspiring Women. This project is based on discussions and
studies about gender equality in society. She talks to many people about this project. The objective of
