2.1.1 State the Process Used to identify extend of compliance of the University
Curriculum for attaining the Program Outcomes and Program Specific Outcomes as
mentioned in Annexure I. Also mention the identified curricular gaps, if any (10)
Process used to identify curricular gaps:
The University curriculum is followed. If there are new developments and new
related material is found, every effort is made to bring these to the students. The faculty
members complement the university curriculum with materials that are in vogue to help
students to be aware of the current day advances in the subjects.
Program outcomes give the goals and directions of the program. In general, the
curriculum, pedagogy and assessment should support the attainment of the set of outcomes
in order to make the program a truly outcome-based one.
Curriculum mapping is a tool for checking the extent to which Outcome based
education is achieved. Curriculum mapping provides a means to examine the extent to
which these outcomes are being addressed and assessed in the curriculum. By constructing
curriculum map, we can determine whether or not the learning opportunities provided are
sufficient and in appropriate sequence so that adjustments can be made accordingly.
Process of Curriculum Mapping
P1. Writing Course outcomes for all courses.
P2. Use appropriate knowledge levels to the course outcome using Blooms taxonomy.
P3. Consider the given POs and PSOs.
P4. Correlate the course outcomes and POs and PSOs.
P5. Identify gaps in the curriculum
P6. Develop course content for the additional Cos.
P7. Discuss the identified curriculum gap in the department advisory board.
P8. Use appropriate methods to fill the gaps.
