PUP University Intramurals 2018

Basketball Men’s Finals (College of Engineering vs. College of Human Kinetics)

Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) intramurals’ opening ceremony began on

September 10, 2018. One of the most awaited events in the university, the University
Intramurals in which all of the colleges and branch campuses will compete with different sports
and other activities.

One of the most intense and nerve wracking game was the basketball championship game
between the College of Engineering and College of Human Kinetics which was the
championship game for the basketball tournament. Undoubtedly, College of Engineering is one
of the most dominant and powerful basketball team in the university as they are the defending
champion in the 2017 university intramurals.

But on September 17, 2018 they faced the College of Human Kinetics which is also one
of the powerhouses in terms of basketball in the university. The atmosphere in the open court
was intensified when the game started, powerhouses versus powerhouses clashes against each
other.

The game began with an

evenly matched start, both teams
exchanging baskets after each other
from 1st to 3rd quarter. But when the
last and final quarter began, the game
atmosphere began to change. The
defense intensified and the
physicality increases on both sides,
both teams wanting to snatch the
victory. But the College of Human
Kinetics falls short on the final two
minutes of the fourth quarter.
College of Engineering once again
took the victory and defended their throne on the field of basketball with the final score 76-70.

Basketball Men’s Division (CAFA vs. CAL)

On September 12, 2018 I

watched the game between CAFA
and CAL in the University
Intramurals held at PUP Manila.
It was a very exciting game; all
the players are talented and
skillful in playing basketball. I
was amazed on their match
because the game was intense and
somehow physical.

At first, the game was

evenly matched, both teams
desired victory. The wanted to
get ahead of each other by playing
intense defense and great offense.
But in the end, CAFA snatched
the win against CAL.

CAFA displayed amazing

team effort, displaying tough defense and great offense on the other end. The final score was 61-
52 in favor of CAFA.

Men's Volleyball Championship (CE

vs. CHK)

In a battle between to
powerhouses in the university, the
College of Human Kinetics clashes with
College of Engineering on men's division
volleyball finals. The game started with
an instense atmosphere, both teams dying
to get ahead of each other.

The game began with an evenly

matched start, both team exhanging score
with each other. 1st set was captured by
CHK with the score of 25-23. But CE
snatched the second set with the score of
22-25 in favor CE. The thirds set ended
with the score of 25-21 in favor of CHK.
It was a match point but CE gave it their
all, winning the 4th set after a deuce with
the score 26-28 in favor of CE thus
extending the match into a do-or-die
battle.

Last and final set was intense and

nerve wracking, a series of rallies are
made. It is indeed a close fight between these two powerhouses. But CE made a crucial error on
the final minutes of the game. CHK claimed the victory with a score of 15-13 in the final set of
the ball game.

College of Human Kinetics was proclaimed the champion in the Univeristy Intrams 2018
Men's Volleyball dethroning the last year's defending champion.
