2.1.1. Power
Battery Cutoff Switch – The Battery Cutoff Switch is mounted between the Control
Console and the battery box on the trailer. All power to the Console is removed
when the switch is in the OFF position. To begin the power up process, first turn ON
the Battery Cutoff Switch.
MAIN POWER Switch – The Main Power Switch is located on the front of the
Console panel.
to the Timer Relay to start a countdown to full power up. This timer also counts
down to full power down when the Main Power Switch is turned off.
When shutting down the system, always allow the timer to countdown until the
Power/Fuse LED lamp (green) turns “OFF” to ensure the system has properly
shutdown before turning off the Battery Cutoff switch.
Once the Timer Relay has completed the count down, 24 VDC will be supplied to all
components of the Console, the Engine and Transmission Control Modules, and
sensors. When the Check Engine, Stop Engine, and Trans Fault LEDs begin to
flash, communication has been established between the STW Controller and the
Engine and Transmission Control Modules. Power will NOT be supplied to the ECM
or TCM key switches until the Ignition switch is turned ON.
IGNITION Switch – The Ignition switch sends a signal to the STW Controller to turn
on Engine and Transmission Control Modules.
Both hardware and software E-Kills must be disabled and the STW Controller fully
booted and operational to supply Ignition power to either Control Module.
IGNITION Switch
START Button – The START button activates the hydraulic start valve to crank the
engine.

The Fault Status Tab can be used by the Operator to help identify the cause of the J1939 fault
codes appearing in the Fault Code Description.
The Pressure Test Tab allows the Operator to preset Engine RPM, Gear, and Duration of test.
This works in conjunction with the Overtrip setting to enhance the safety of performing a pressure
test. The unit will shift to neutral after the Duration time unless Overtrip has already occurred.
Set the desired Pressure Overtrip value with the Trip Pressure arrows.
Set the desired engine RPM (generally just above idle).
Set the desired gear. Higher gears will ensure the transmission torque converter
stalls out and does not lock up.
Set the desired Duration of the test. The duration should be long enough for the
transmission to shift into gear (usually 3+ seconds on Caterpillar transmissions).
Press Start. The test will proceed as set up.
Verify all functions perform as expected before proceeding.
2.3.2. PRIDE 20
The functions of the PRIDE 20 are the same as the PRIDE 5. The number of pumps which can be
controlled is 20 rather than 5.

The FPC1STW – PUMP SETUP tab is used to setup the scaling of the pressure and temperature
sensors being monitored by the system as well as the mechanical characteristics of the gearbox and
head of the pump. These must be setup and calibrated correctly for the pressure, temperature, and
rate signals to display correctly.
Changes to the FPC1STW – PUMP SETUP parameters should only be made by experienced
operators or technicians. Once these numbers are set, they should not need to be changed unless
there is a mechanical change to the equipment or sensors. If you are unsure, leave it alone.
The FPC1STW – ALARMS tab is used to set up alarm values and actions. These effect the
operation of the unit when parameters are outside the defined range. As seen below, if the feedback
signal from the Power End Pressure sensor falls below 20 PSI, Instant Neutral will be triggered by
the Controller.

4.2.2. PRIDE
Single Pump Control – Use the Trip Pressure Arrows to set the maximum pressure.
Use the Gear Arrows to engage and shift the transmission. Use the Throttle Arrows to
adjust the engine speed. Adjust the speed until the Lock-Up is indicated by the
transmission lights.
DO NOT run the pump for extended periods of time with the Converter light on. This can
cause serious damage to the transmission. If the Lock-Up light will not come on when the
engine RPM is greater than 1700 RPM, remove the unit from service and notify
maintenance personnel.

STOP ENGINE – Activating this button turns off the Ignition signal to the ECM which shuts off the
fuel supply and stops the engine. This is the proper method of stopping the engine in ALL
situations except in the instance of a runaway engine. (See E-KILL)
E-KILL – The E-Kill or Emergency Kill feature is to be used in the event of a runaway engine. A
runaway engine is caused by a fuel source entering the engine through the air intake system.
This could be from combustible gas or vapors in the air or oil mist from the engine. Shutting off
the fuel supply will not kill a runaway engine since it is being fueled externally by the air supply.
Shutting off the fuel and air supply is the proper method for killing an engine in this condition.
The E-Kill function can be activated in the Selected Pump Display or from the Master Control.
The Master E-Kill will shut down all units connected to the PRIDE system.
