LA34 TERM 2 SEATING PLAN

Key
1= A Student 2= B/C Student 3= C/D Student 4= D student
A.= Shoulder partner B.= Shoulder Partner C.= Shoulder Partner

Group 1
A. Olivia. H – 1 (Top of the class, Loves to learn and often needs to be challenged)
A. Hunter – 2 (Works well with most students, enjoys learning, sometimes gets distracted
when working with other boys)
B. Oliver – 3 (Has his moments when he wants to work, struggles with some concepts)
B. Ayesha (ESL) – 4 (Usually works well with other students but struggles with
communication)

Observations:
Probably one of the most one sided pairings I chose to group Oliver next to Ayesha as I have
noticed that Oliver doesn’t include Ayesha in his games/conversations. I also didn’t want to
put Hunter and Oliver together as I find the sometime get carried away with being “Boys”.
Since the students have been moved Hunter has worked well with Olivia and doesn’t get
distracted by any of the students. Ollie and Ayesha have started to work better with each
other. The proximity to the front of the class has been beneficial to both Oliver and Ayesha.

Group 2
A. Manas – 1 (Understands most tasks and helps others students)
A. Amneet – 3 (Struggles to understand instructions and need constant guidance)
B. Shrasta – 2 (Works well but gets distracted by Olivia. M when working)
B. Jay – 4 (Struggles to follow instructions and stay on task, gets distracted when sat next to
Boyd/Riley, when paired with Riley they picks on other students)

Observations:
I started this group by ensuring that Jay had no contact with any of the boys he hangs out
with as I have found he tends to have a bad influence on student’s behaviour. I also decided
to move Amneet next to Manas as I felt by pairing her with a top student may help her with
understanding instructions. Once the students were moved I expected Jay to carry on and
pick on the other students on the table. However, he seems to be working better with his
classmates since the move. I have also noticed that Manas has been able to provide Amneet
with some explanation of the tasks.

Group 3
A. Boyd – 1 (One of the top students, always works well but causes distraction with
Jay/Riley)
A. Olivia. M – 3 (Enjoys learning, however is distracted when sat with Shrasta)
B. Alvie – 3 (Lacks motivation and struggles to complete work)
B. Imogen – 4 (Struggles with most concepts & tends to boss other students around)
Observations:
When grouping Imogen, I wanted to find her someone that wouldn’t respond to her bossy
behaviour. I feel that Alvie isn’t bothered by Imogen and seems to not get distracted as
easily. However both these students lack direction and motivation to work and I feel that
these students do not help each other complete their work. I sat Boyd next to Olivia. M as I
wanted her to be less distracted and to stay on task. So far Boyd seems to have helped
some of the other students in the group to stay focused on the lesson and be more involved
in learning.

Group 4
A. Shasta - 1 (One of the top students, works well with most students but has complained
about Riley picking on him)
A. Jianna - 3 (Lacks motivation and struggles to complete work)
B. Emily - 2 (Great participant, sometimes doesn’t stay on task)
B. Brodie - 3 (Lacks resilience but attempts work)

Observations:
One of the stronger groups I wanted to find someone that would motivate both Jianna and
Brodie. I found by grouping these students with students that are more motivated to work
would help them to not be as distracted. I also decided to group Emily away from her usual
friends as I found she becomes distracted and doesn’t complete her work. I have found this
group has worked well together and the students seem to get along. However, I have found
that the students may be sat too far way from the rest of the class which has had an affect
on the motivation of Jianna and Brodie.

Group 5
A. Charlotte - 2 (Loves to learn, works well with most students and often needs further
tasks)
A. Naomi – 4 (Anxious, struggles with most concepts but always gives it a go some students
seem to pick on her)
B. Giah - 2 (Loves to learn, understands most tasks but seems to boss people around)
B. Riley – 4 (Struggles to follow instructions and stay on task, gets distracted when sat with
Jay/Boyd, When paired with Jay they pick on other students)
C. Izack – 3 (Struggles to work with other students, chooses when he wants to learn and
struggles to follow behavioural instructions)

Observations:
As both Riley and Giah tend to pick on other students and boss them around I decided to
pair these two together as I hoped the would cancel each other out. However, since the
move Riley has become more and more difficult with other students bossing students in his
group. I decided to group Naomi and Charlotte together as I have found some students have
been unfair to Naomi and I feel Charlotte is probably one of the fairest students in the class.
I feel so far this move has been quiet beneficial for Naomi. As Izack struggles to work with
any other student I decided to seat him by himself, I have found this has worked in causing
less distraction and avoiding any other students from picking on him.
