Project Title:

Project PASPAS (Progressive Authentic Score in Performance Assessment in Science)

Problem Statement:
Based from the National Achievement Test (NAT) result, Science has the lowest performance rate
with only 59%. This calls for an investigation into factors that cause the poor performance in order
to make efforts to improve the science test results.

Project Objective Statement:

This project aims to investigate the factors that cause the learner's poor performances in the science
subject in order to develop and implement new Science scheme of work which may include creative
learning experiences and to be able to improve assessment tool across the curriculum.

Root Cause:
The main factors that account for the low performance in science of our students include the lack of
support for a scientific culture reflected in the deficiencies regarding the school curriculum, the
inadequate teaching learning process, insufficient instructional materials and lack of teacher
training. For instance, the lack of good and engaging textbooks and lack of science equipment have
hindered the conduct of scientific investigations and hands-on activities among our pupils.
