IV. Questions for Reflection. Place your answers on pages 3 and 4.

21-30. Give three major scientific and technological developments in the world (or in the
Philippines) that created a large impact on your daily life.
31-40. What historical antecedents gave rise to the inventions you mentioned in the first
question?
41-50. How did the developments in science and technology shape human history?

2
21-30.) The Wheel, Electric Bulb and The World Wide Web

31-40.). The Historical Antecedents that gave rise to these inventions are that they have made
the world into a better place through the purpose that they serve. The wheel, which was invented
around 4500 - 3300 BCE, the wheel gave rise to almost everything from transportation to
modern day machinery. It has made our lives easier by helping us get to our desired
destinations faster. It all started with a block of cement because the early humans found out
that it was easier to move things by rolling them.

The light bulb, it has changed the world by facilitating the creation of large power grids
and by changing the structure of society economically and socially. This invention has given us
a new era in our society. The people before used to rely only on the sun for light which was
a hindrance for them but when the light bulb came about, The didn’t need to rely on the sunlight
anymore which made things a lot easier for them.

The World Wide Web, For me, is by far the greatest invention because it has given us access
to information beyond our own capabilities. It is a “key player in the technological revolution”.
Through this invention, we have learned how to communicate and understand those around us
better which is a great asset in today’s world. It’s original purpose was to help
the scientists in universities and institutes around the world to share information, but it ended up
becoming more than that. It became a very important tool in today’s world.

41-59.) Science and Technology, they have shaped our history in ways we couldn’t imagine.
For hundreds and thousands of years that the human-kind has existed, we have always taken things
our way and bent it to our own will. We use our own knowledge of things to try and change
the world so that it would benefit us in such ways we want it to.

Through Science, it has helped widen our knowledge and understanding of the world more,
and this added knowledge that we now have, gives us the power gain capability.

Technology, this is where it teaches us to apply our gained knowledge to achieve a specific goal.
Science and Technology work hand in hand to change and mold us. These changes
that we encounter shape us— our history and the world into something better than it used to be.
