• 6 – Attend to precision.

Learning Goals:
• Identify and model collinear, coplanar, and intersection of lines and
planes.

Questions:
• What does collinear, non-collinear, coplanar, and non-coplanar
mean?
• What is the difference between collinear and non-collinear?
Key Concepts & • What is the difference between coplanar and non-coplanar?
Essential Questions • Can you explain and represent with a drawing what each definition
means to a partner?
• What is a real-life example of each vocabulary word?

Key Concept:
• Students will define and identify collinear, coplanar, and intersection
of lines and planes.

Connections to • Students have learned the previous day of points, lines and planes.
Students’ Knowledge, • Students have a visual understanding of what a point, line, and plane
Skills, Experience looks like and how they are correctly named.

Planning:
• Copies: Be prepared with copies for each student for foldable,
crossword puzzle, and real world examples worksheet.
• Have glue, scissors, and slide presentation of real world examples
ready on screen.
Teacher • Considering all students learning styles before teaching

Direct & Indirect Teaching Strategies:

• Complete the Fill-In Foldable Notes with the students.
• Incorporate UDL principles
• Popsicle Sticks for Name Calling.

Expectations:

• By completing the short foldable, students will understand this

harder subject in an easier manner.
• Students will draw figures to each vocabulary by using color pens
and highlighters.
• Students will collaborate with other students to find real-life
examples of the vocabulary words.
• Students will be able to match visual examples with their
according vocabulary word.
Instructions
Introduction:

• By the door, students must pick up a glue, pair of scissors, and

foldable worksheet on their way to their desk.

Engagement/ lesson.
Motivation, and
Expression Engagement:
• What is the purpose of the lesson? Students will learn the purpose
right from the beginning for Engagement.
• Interactive Foldable
• Hands-on activity
• Pair-Share: Students have to communicate with their team to
complete the Gallery Walk.

Expression:
• Students will move around the classroom to complete the Gallery
Walk.

When I have to teach hard geometry concepts for my students, I always

incorporate easy-to-follow foldables that will get rid of all confusion that
students usually struggle with. For my ELL’s, I have a English/Spanish
Word Wall that they can use to translate words if they are having
Analyzing: difficulties. Also, I have them paired up with other students who speak
Reflecting and both languages so that they can help each other. The activities in these
Applying lessons are perfect for my students who are slow in learning and have
ADHD because they are short-timed. The longest activity takes 10
minutes to complete. Students are always engaged in them.

Literacy Component: This whole lesson has literacy components included

in the activities, even though it’s a math lesson. Students must define
vocabulary words, use them in real-life examples, and define them
visually as well.

The Gallery Walk is always a success in my classroom because students

are communicating with each other and debating their answers. They are
using the vocabulary, defining them, and making sense of them with their
own real-life examples.
