STAGE I: DESIRED RESULTS


 The students demonstrate art elements and processes by synthesizing and
applying prior knowledge and skills.
 The students demonstrate the salient features of the arts of Luzon
Content Standard (highlands and lowlands) by showing the relationship of the elements of art
and processes among culturally diverse communities in the country.
 The students demonstrate the Philippines as having a rich artistic and
cultural tradition from pre-colonial to present times.
 The students create artworks showing the characteristics elements of the
arts of Luzon (highlands and lowlands).
Performance Standard
 The students exhibit completed artworks for appreciation and critiquing.

The students will understand that:


 A country’s arts and history speak of the people’s attention to culture and
tradition.

Describe the visual characteristics and uniqueness of the arts and crafts of the
Performance Task indigenous people. Discuss the similarities and differences among the different arts
and crafts found in the Northern Luzo.

STAGE III: LEARNING PLAN

CONTENT/TOPIC Folk Arts and Crafts of Northern Luzon

The students should be able to:


 define what makes a good art/culture
 appreciate how Northern Luzon folk arts and traditions make a distinct and
significant culture
 identify different arts and crafts from Northern Luzon particularly on the
SPECIFIC LEARNING regions of Cordillera, Ilocos and Pangasinan
COMPETENCIES  relate art elements and principles of design applied in the arts and crafts of
Northern Luzon
 familiarize common cultural terminologies used in the arts and crafts of
Northern Luzon.

 The teacher asks each student what province his parents are from and
where he grew up or stayed the longest. Name the province(s), the
language/dialect he/she speaks, the food and fruits from that place,

 Divide the class into the three island groups: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao or
into other groupings relevant to the provinces represented by the students
and let them share their answers to the rest of their groupmates.
 The teacher shows various interesting pictures of cultural motifs of Luzon
from Ivatans of Batanes down to the Southern Tagalog and Bicol Regions.
 She explains varied representations of fabrics or textiles and accessories as
